Mrs. Albert Gregory Dies At Age Of 73

Mrs. Lizzie Toney Gregory, aged 73 years, died at a Nashville hospital on Monday morning, passing away at 7:20 o’clock.  She had gone from her home at Pleasant Shade to the hospital on Sunday about noon.  She had been in ill health for some time, but her condition was not regarded as serious at the time she left home.  She is survived by her husband, Albert Gregory, a Pleasant Shade farmer; four sons, Mack Gregory, of Old Hickory; Nelson and Dennis Gregory, both of Nashville; and Jack Gregory, a solider on his way across the Pacific to Guam; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hesson, of Nashville; Mrs. Allen Hesson, of Chattanooga; and Mrs. Calvin Shores, Old Hickory; 10 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Toney, of Pleasant Shade; and Charlie Toney, of Nashville; and one sister, Mrs. Poney Jones, also of Nashville.

Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at the home by Elder Phocain Gibbs, assisted at Reverends Lum Oliver and Herbert Martin.  Burial followed in the Sanderson’s Cemetery, near which the deceased had lived for many years.  She was a good woman and was a professed Christian, although she was not identified with any church.  She was the daughter of William and Cis Deering Toney and was a native of Smith County.
