Thomas Rainey Gregory, familiarly known as Tom Stokes Gregory, aged 66 years, died in his sleep on Friday night of last week. He resided near Payne's Store in Trousdale County and had been in failing health for some time. However, he ate a hearty supper Friday night and later died in his sleep. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Aquilla Oldham; one daughter, Mrs. Clayton Gregory, Tenn.; three sons, Bud Gregory, of Hartsville; Jack Gregory, of the United States Navy and stationed at Pensacola, Fla.; and Ray Gregory, of Gallatin; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Gregory, of Hartsville; and Jim Gregory of Detroit, Mich.; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Piper, of Portland, Tenn.; and Mrs. Floyd Reece, of Chestnut Mound.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from Enon Chapel Baptist church, by the pastor, Elder Albert Crouch; and Elder Calvin Gregory, followed with burial in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. The dead man was converted a number of years ago but had not united with any church. He was a good citizen and an honorable, upright man. He was the son of William Stokes Gregory and Sarah Smith Gregory, and was a direct descendant of Bry Gregory, a Revolutionary soldier.
