Following is a transcription of the above person's (TN) obituary from the Sumner
County News, Sumner Co., TN, dated Thursday 12/03/1925:
Mrs. MONT. BATES.
Mrs. Nannie Robertson BATES, wife of Mr. Mont BATES, departed
this life November 17, at Barr's Infirmary, where she had been seriously ill for some
weeks and where everything possible to help her in her fight to live, was done.
In every walk of life--as a mother, wife, friend, neighbor,
Christian--Mrs. BATES had no superior, and the whole community in which she lived is one
in sharing with bereavement of her family, and of her mother, sisters, and brothers.
She had been an esteemed member of the M. E. Church at Castalian
Springs for years, a teacher in the Sunday School, treasurer of the W. H. Missionary
Society, and in everything she undertook she excelled, always faithful and on time, never
fault-finding, always helping in every way. Her place cannot be filled, and she will
live on and on in the lives of those whom she served, and inspired by her beautiful life,
and around her memory--
"A thousand little tender
thoughts shall spring,
A thousand tender memories
wind and cling"
