Dec. 4, 1924 Typhoid is Fatal to Young Matron Mrs. Maude Rodgers HUGHES Dies Near Pleasantville; Funeral and Burial Service at Beech Grove Mrs. Maude Rodgers HUGHES, 23 years of age and wife of Ola HUGHES of Cane Creek, near Pleasantville, died at the family home on Sunday morning at eight o'clock after six weeks of illness with typhoid fever. The remains were interred at the Beech Grove cemetery near Pleasantville, Monday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Deceased was the only daughter of Thos. H. RODGERS, well known citizen of the Pleasantville community. She was married seven years ago to Mr. HUGHES, who is a successful young farmer and who survives. Deceased is also survived by two brothers, Bryan and Emmett RODGERS; and by two half-brothers, aged 10 and 3 years respectively. Her mother died several years ago, the father remarrying. Mrs. HUGHES was a young woman of many admirable traits of character, a devout Christian character and beloved by hosts of friends. Her passing brings sorrow to the hearts of the entire community, in which she had lived her young life of devotion to the highest ideals of young womanhood. |
