Following is a transcription of the above person's (TN) obituary from the Sumner
County News, Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN, dated Thursday 01/14/1926:
Pleasant Grove.
The Pleasant Grove community lost one of its oldest and moste
estimable women when "Aunt" Louisa DURHAM passed away New Year's Day. She
was the widow of the late Dr. R. DURHAM of Pleasant Grove. Her life was brought to a
close by an attack of pneumonia. She was born in Barren County, Kentucky, in 1839,
so her age was 86 years. She moved to Tennessee with her husband when she was 18,
just before the Civil War. Aunt Louisa had been a member of the Methodist church
many years. Perhaps no person in this community ever possessed more faith in God or
a brighter hope of a home in Heaven than Aunt Louisa. She is survived by one son, J.
M. DURHAM, of this place, and four daughters, Mrs. P. R. CREASY of this place, Mrs. S. W.
RIPPY of this place, Mrs. John KIRBY of Barren County, Kentucky, and Mrs. Donie DICKERSON
of Westmoreland. Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her.
Two sisters who survive her live in Kentucky. Mrs. Nancy COOMBS, one sister,
is ninety-six year old and helping do her own house work. Mrs. Becky PERDUE is the
other sister also of Kentucky.
