County Times, Springfield, Robertson Co., TN, dated Thursday 07/18/1922:
L. C. DURRETT Called by Death.
Lemuel C. DURRETT, a prominent citizen of this county, passed
away at his home near White House, Sunday evening about 7 o'clock. Mr. DURRETT was
one of the most prominent and active citizens of his community and of Robertson County,
and a distinct loss is felt by all who knew him. He was born in 1859, which made him
about 63 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. DURRETT had been a farmer all
his life and was always prominent in public affairs. He was a member of a widely
known family, having numerous connections throughout this county. Surviving him are
his wife and seven children, two sons and five daughters. They are Everett and
Dwight DURRETT, Mrs. Ora ERWIN, Mrs. Ara SHOULDERS, Mrs. Eunice COVINGTON, Mrs. Lela
RANDOLPH, and Miss Bennie DURRETT. One daughter, Zula, died several years ago.
He also leaves a brother, John T. DURRETT, of this county. Funeral services
were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and were conducted by the Revs. Wilkinson and
Woodall; burial followed at Pleasant Grove.
