WILSON COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - Robert Bumpass to Erasmus Jones

Note: This land later became part of Cannon County upon its formation in 1836.

This indenture made this sixth day of April in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twenty between Robert Bumpass of the county of
Wilson and state of Tennessee of the one part and Erasmus Jones of the county
of Wilson an state aforesaid of the other part wittnesseth that he said Robert
Bumpass for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and seventy eight
dollars to him in hand paid the receipt of which he hereby truly acknowledges
hath granted bargained and by these presents doth grant bargain sell convey
and confirm to the said Erasmus Jones his heirs and assigns forever to a
certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and twenty six acres
lying on the waters of Leeches Creek a branch of Sanders Fork and bounded as
follows.
Beginning at Samuel Michell's North West corner two sugar trees running
thence East one hundred poles to an ash thence one hundred and twenty eight
poles the same course to a sugar tree and two cherries in Greer's line thence
North seventy poles to Rosses line two beeches. Thence along his line West
thirty six poles to two beeches ash and (Elm?) Thence North one hundred poles
to a sugar tree in the old North boundary line. Thence along this old line
West two hundred poles crossing a branch to a fallen red oak on a branch
thence South eighty poles to a white oak and fallen dogwood. Thence the same
course continued one hundred and three poles furth in all one hundred eighty
three poles to the beginning and containing two hundred and twenty six acres
be the same more and less. To have and to hold ths afforsaid two hundred and
twenty six acres of land with all rights, profits, estates and hereditaments
appertaining thereunto himteh said Erasmus Jones his heirs and assigns forever
and the said Robert Bumpass binds himself, his heirs, executors,
administrators or assigns to warrant and defend the aforesaid promises to the
said Erasmus Jones, his heirs and assigns forever against all the lawful
claims and demands of any person whatsoever in witness of which the said
Robert Bumpass hathh hereunto set his hand and seal this the said sixth day of
April 1820.

The within deed of bargain and sale from Robert Bumpass to Erasmus Jones for
Two Hundred and Twenty Six acres of land was duly acknowledged in open court
by the bargainor and ordered to be registered.
