I was born in Clarksville, Montgomery County, State of Tennessee.
I am the daughter of F. Norman SMITH born 1869 and his wife Corinne
NORTHINGTON born 1874, Married 1893.
The said F. Norman SMITH was the son of Fredrick L. SMITH born 1834
died 1922 and his (1) wife Lucy Ann TANDY born 1834 died 1873.
Married 1855.
The said Lucy Ann TANDY was the daughter of Thomas Adams TANDY born 1792,
died 1875 and his wife Lucy Ann TURNLEY born 1809, died 1868, married 1826.
The said Lucy Ann TURNLEY was the daughter of Edmund TURNLEY born 1779,
died 1870 and his wife Mary DUERSON born ____, died _____, married ______.
The said Edmund TURNLEY was the son of John TURNLEY born 1757, died 1845
and his wife Elizabeth SPINDLE born 1758, died 1850, married ______.
The said John TURNLEY was the son of Francis TURNLEY born 1726, died ____.
The said Francis TURNLEY was the son of Francis TURNLEY born 1691, and his
wife Grace _____, married 1725.
The said Francis TURNLEY was the son of Francis TURNLEY born 1662, married
1690.

John TURNLEY is the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence.
Copy of original discharge of John TURNLEY printed in book “The Turnleys” a record compiled by Parmeas Taylor TURNLEY and printed in 1905 by the Canterbury Press, Highland Park, Illinois.
"I do hereby certify that John TURNLEY a soldier in the South Virginia
regiment has faithfully served his time of enlistment and is hereby
discharged.
Given under my hand at
                             Valley Forge Camp Feb. 13th 1778

                                                  Brigadier General.”

Francis TURNLEY born 1662 Monmouth Wales emigrated to Virginia and lived in Spottsylvania County.

Record of John TURNLEY in book “The Turnleys” found in Carnegie Library at
Nashville, Tenn. On page 27 is copy of honorable discharge received at
Valley Forge Feb. 13th 1778. See record of Mrs. Nannie Turnley RUDOLPH.
