Last Will and Testament
of
Jesse SHANNON

In the name of God Amen.  I Jesse Shannon of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee, being of Sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God, and calling to mind the uncertainly of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such wordly Estate as it has pleased God to bless me with.  I give and bequeath the same in manner following to wit:,
First: I give my Soul to God who gave it.
2nd.: I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Martha J. Shannon one bed and bedstead and furniture and five hundred Dollars in money.
3rd.: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Amanda J. Baggett five hundred Dollars in money.
4th.: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Perneacy A. Empson five hundred Dollars in money.
5th.: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Martha E Baggett five hundred Dollars in money.
6th.: I give to my wife Martha J. Shannon fifty acres of land more or less on the East end of my land beginning on a rock in David Cooks line, moving South with the old field fence to a rock in William Rippetoes line including all the land and timber East of Said old field fence, estimated to be worth five hundred Dollars.   This is to be my wifes land during her natural lifetime and after her death it is to go to my Daughter Lucinda M. Strickland and her bodily heirs to make her equal with the balance of my Children that I have willed five hundred Dollars in money.
7th.: At my death the balance of my land with all of my Stock and what other propert may be on hand be Sold and equally divided between my wife and all of my above named Children.
Lastley: I do hereby Constitute and appoint two of my Soninlaws Eli Baggett and James P. Empson Executor to sell and divide my Estate and make a title to the above named land of this my last Will and Testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my Seal this 11th day of March 1873.
