WALKER-GEORGE
Concerning the recent wedding of Mr. and Mrs.
Elbert GEORGE, the Helena World carried the following notice: "A
wedding of much interest to many friends was that of Mrs. Myra WALKER and
Mr. Elbert GEORGE of Helena, which was solemnized at 9 o'clock on the
morning of August 24, at Rehobeth Church near Cypert.
At the wish of the bride the ceremony was
performed in the church where she worshipped when a child, her pastor Mr.
Glenn officiating.
The bride was lovely in her bridal dress of tan
with blue and gold trimmings, hat and shoes to match. The bride and
groom were attended by Mr. and Mrs. T. M. WARDLAW of this city, Miss
Augustus THOMAS of Memphis, and Mr. Sidney WALKER of Brickey, Ark., the
latter a brother of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. BACHELOR of
Marvell, were also present.
Immediately after the wedding Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE
left for points in Tennessee. They will spend a week or ten days
visiting before leaving for their future home in Laferia, Texas."
REUNION HONORS BRIDE AND GROOM
After a visit with Mr.
GEORGE's parents Mr. and Mrs. S. D. GEORGE at Goodrich, Mr. and Mrs.
Elbert GEORGE left last week for their former home in Helena, Ark., where
they joined a party of ten friends who motored from Helena to Laferia,
Texas, where the entire party has recently located for a permanent
residence. While at Goodrich, Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE were honor guests
of a picnic dinner given on Sunday at the spring in the yard of the GEORGE
homestead, and which was in the nature of a family reunion. Those
present other than the parents and honor guests were Mrs. T. J. DRAPER and
T. J. DRAPER Jr., of Helena; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. GEORGE and three children;
Mr. and Mrs. Luther NICHOLS, Hohenwald; Mr. and Mrs. Ed NICKS and Miss
Helen NICKS, Grays Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Owen ROCHELL and five children,
Shipps Bend; and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. BARR who have lived close neighbors of
the GEORGE family the past 40 years.
