Following is a transcription of the above person's (TN) obituary from the Fentress
County Gazette, Jamestown, Fentress Co., TN, dated 01/14/1897:
Cyrena MAYNARD was born Nov. 17, 1815, in Carrol county, N. C.,
16 miles from Raleigh. She was the daughter of Silas MAYNARD, who moved with his
family when she was quite young to Overton county, Tenn. She was married to A. B.
HULL on Dec. 11, 1835. Died Jan. 11, 1897. She was the mother of fourteen children,
ten of whom survive her, four having passed in advance to the other shore.
While quite young she professed faith in Christ and joined the
Baptist church. She lived a life of exemplary christian piety, and remarked before
her death, "The Lord has called me and I must go." Her companion of
sixty-one years of married life still survives her, though now in his eighty-sixth year
and in a very feeble state of health. The community generally extend their sympathy
to the bereft companion and surviving family and friends.
A Friend.
