Tennessee Valley Authority - Cemetery Relocation

The Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA) Cemetery Relocation records document the work of TVA’s Cemetery Relocation Unit, a unit no longer in service at TVA. These files contain the forms, signed by the nearest living relative, granting permission to TVA for grave removal. Other documents preserved include such sensitive material as the description for each corpse and coffin when removed, plat maps of cemeteries involved, reinterment information, and original field notes of the workers. Death certificates are not included in these records. A database file has been created from these original documents, allowing searches by surname, cemetery name, TVA project, state, and county. Attached is the database information for the graves that were impacted in Meigs and Rhea Counties, Tennessee.
