ABSOLOM DEAKENS AND WIFE
Power of Attorney

Know all men by these present that I, Absolom and Polly, my lawful wife, of the State of Tennessee and County of Marion, being the rightful heiress and lawful heir by virtue of matrimony of John Brown, late, of the County of Knox and State aforesaid, do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint, William Brown, of the County of Washington and State aforesaid and lawful attorney for us and in our name to sell, convey and quit, unto such person or persons, as may sell unto all our right title interest and claim of in and to our undivided portion of our said deceased fathers real estate, that is to say allowing him, our said attorney, to sell the same for whatever sum he may think proper and where sale is made, to sign our names as attorney in fact, to any deed or other assignment necessary for conveying the title to the same, hereby giving to and investing, our said attorney with full power and legal acts in the premises in, as full and ample a manner as we ourselves in proper person might or could hereby ratifying all the acts of our said attorney in the premises. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and seal this fourteenth day of January eighteen hundred and twenty-three.
