Owensby Brothers

Owensby Brothers

Right after this article was in the newspaper, word came that Cecil Clifford Owensby had died on the USS Indianapolis when the Japenese had destroyed it.

These men were the sons of William Rutherford Owensby and Ora Fine Owensby. William and Ora also had a daughter, Willie Buena Owensby King. Willie King ,her husband William King and their two sons, William Dale and Donald Lee King, were there in Pearl Harbor during the bombing.

William King was injured by shrapnel and was put on a life raft with a small number of other men and they were not picked up for days. He lost part of his foot due to gangrene setting in while they were adrift.
