This indenture made and entered into this the 13th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six between Thomas Smith of the County of Marion and State of Tennessee of the one part and Gerry Holloway of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth: That for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty-five in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by me the said Thomas Smith. I therefore do by these presents relinquish all right title and claim and convey unto Gerry Holloway and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres lying and being on the top of Waldens Ridge adjoining the lands of James Anderson and the waters of the Suck Creek bearing date the 3rd day of May 1866 No. 1225 beginning at black oak and pointers running thence North 220 poles to a chesnut oak and pointers thence east 146 poles to a stake thence south 220 poles to a black gum and pointers thence west 146 poles to the beginning including an improvement and spring with the hereditments and appurtenances.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Gerry Holloway and his heirs forever against the lawful title claim and demand of any person or presence. I will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of land to the said Gerry Holloway and his heirs.

Blansett Clerk of the County Court of the said County the within named Thomas Smith the bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the foregoing deed for the purpose therein contained, witness my hand at office this 2nd day of Aug. 1869,
