This Indenture made the 16th day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand & eight hundred twenty eight between Samuel Jackson Sr. of the County of Marion & State of Tennessee of the one part and Hannah Ray of the other part of the State and County aforesaid Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and forty dollars to the said Samuel in hand paid by the said Hannah the said Samuel hath bargained & sold and by these presents do bargain sell alien remise and convey unto the said Hannah a certain peice or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County of Marion State of Tennessee on the waters of Battle Creek containing twenty five acres more or less Beginning ____ the Saw pit on a conditional corner on a stake at Wilsons corner running East ____ poles thence north 58 east fifty poles to a conditional on a Spanish oak and hickory thence eastwardly with said conditional line by a large poplar at the fork of a path and the dry creek thence down said dry creek to Hays line thence with said Hays line to his walnut corner thence up the hollow to the beginning. A conditional line To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land together with all singular the rights members and appurtenances to the same belonging or any wise appertaining to the said Hannah Ray her heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel Jackson senior for himself his executors administrators doth covenant and agree to and with the said Hannah Ray her heirs and executors and administrators that the said bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend against the claim or claims of all person or persons whatever pretending to claim or hold the same by virtue of a deed of conveyance from him said Samuel his heirs or assigns In witness whereof the said Samuel puts his hand and seal day and date above written.

Then was the within deed of conveyance from Samuel Jackson to Hannah Ray for twenty acres of land in Marion County was duly proven by the oaths of Thomas Ray and John Overturf subscribing witnesses thereto and to be certified for registration Given under my hand and private seal at Jasper the 28th day of February 1828.
