William Rankin
This indenture made this 18th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine between William Rankin of the one part and Bartlet Wilson of the other part, both of the County of Marion and State of Tennessee. Witnesseth, that the said Rankin for and in consideration of one hundred dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has granted bargained sold and confirmed unto the said Bartlet Wilson his heirs & assigns forever all the tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Marion and State of Tennessee within the bouds of John Southgate 10500 acre tract bounded as follows. Beginning at a point in the center of Sequachee creek opposite a beech and black oak John Williams upper corner near Ransom Smith corner: then south 40 west 50 poles to a post oak: thence N. 50 west { } poles to a post oak on top of a ridge: thence No. 40 E. 86 poles to a black oak: thence down said river to the beginning in the center of said river, containing 50 acres, more or less appurtenances and hand the estate right title interest property and claim of him the said William Rankin of in and the same and every part thereof unto Bartlet Wilson his heirs and assigns forever and the said Rankin his heirs executors and administrators all and singular the premises hereby conveyed unto the said Wilson his heirs and assigns against the said Rankin his heirs & all and every other person whomever doth and will forever defend by these in Witness whereof the said Rankin hath hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date before written, signed sealed and delivered in presence of.

Personally appeared before me, Asa Shelton, Clerk of the County Court of said County William Rankin the within bargainer whom I am personally acquainted with, who acknowledged that he executed the within named deed for the purposes therein contained on the day same bears date.
