Smith Alfred M.I, Edward D. Pickett have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Alfred M. Smith his heirs and assigns forever for the consideration of six hundred dollars to me paid a certain tract of land in the State and County aforesaid and in District No. 3 containing by estimation twenty-five acres more or less beginning on a white oak on the south east bank of Sequachee River running thence south to the top of the bank on the south side of Sloughs or south prong of Looneys Creek to a stake and pointers; thence running as it meanders on the top of the south bank of said sloughs or creek to a beech tree where a ditch runs into said sloughs or creek; thence running in the center of said sloughs or creek as it meanders to a stake and pointers in said sloughs or creek; thence southwardly to a poplar stump on the bank of said sloughs or creek; thence eastwardly to a black gum Pickett corner known as Townsons tract; thence to Hoodenpyles and Picketts corner; thence northwardly seventeen poles to a chestnut corner on Teagues line; thence with Teagues line one hundred twenty-seven poles to the beginning. To have the same to the said Alfred M. Smith his heirs and assigns forever. I do convenient with the said Alfred M. Smith that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered, I do further covenant and by myself my land and every part thereof to the said Alfred M. Smith his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. Signed sealed and acknowledged in our presence the 16th day of August A. D. 1869.
