I, Alfred M. Smith have this day bargained and sold and do hereby convey to Edward D. Pickett his heirs and assigns forever for the consideration of six hundred dollars to me paid a certain tract of land in State and County aforesaid and in District No. (3) containing fifty acres bounded and described as follows to wit: Beginning at a rock corner on the north side of the spring known as the Brannon Spring thence west 2 � poles to a black oak thence with said Teague�s line to the center of Looney�s creek thence down the center of said creek as it meanders to a rock corner thence southeast to a stake thence south 12 deg west passing Teagues and Hodenpyles corner at five poles in all 136 poles to a rock corner on Picketts line thence south east 25 poles to the big road to a stake thence south 20 deg west 15 poles to a stake in the Race tract field thence north 19 deg east 74 poles to a red oak near the mouth of a lane thence north 56 west 33 poles to a rock corner in the big road thence north 36 � east 63/100 poles to rock corner in the center of the big rock thence north 55 � west 13 68/100 poles to a rock corner thence north 17 E. 20 4/5 poles crossing big spring to the beginning.
To have the same to said Edward D. Pickett his heirs and assigns forever I do covenant with the said Edward D. Pickett that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said Edward D. Pickett his heirs and heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.
