     Corporal M.T.C.; son of Mr and Mrs Bud Alvis of Rogersville;
entered service 24 June 1918, at Camp Gordon, Ga.; returned home, 25 Jun

     Private, infantry; son of Perry and Bettie Anderson of Church Hill;
born 22 April 1894; entered service, 1 Jul 1918 at Camp Pike, Little
Rock, Ark.; sailed overseas Sep. 1918.

#15    Luther Anderson
     Private, Company A, 601st Engineers; son of Isaac and Laura
Anderson of Rogersville; born 5 April 1894; entered service at Camp Lee,
Petersburg, Va.; sailed overseas June 1918; wounded Nov. 1918, just
before the signing of the armistice.

#16    Alfred Armstrong
     Private, Co. A 117th infantry, 30th Div.; son of Jake Armstrong of
Church Hill; born 27 Aug. 1889; entered service, 21 Sep. 1917, at Camp
Gordon, Ga.; transferred to Camp Sevier, S.C.; sailed overseas, 11 May
1918; went over the top four times, receiving wounds during the battle
of Malain, 17 Oct. 1918.

# 17    Orville Armstrong
     Private, Company C, 383rd infantry, 96th Reg.; son of Jake
Armstrong of Church Hill; born August 1887; entered service, 22 Oct.
1918, at Camp Wadsworth, S.C., where he served for the duration of the
war; discharged and returned home, 17 Dec 1918.

#18    John W. Arnold
     Private, 1st Cl. infantry; son of J.W. and M.L. Arnold of
Surgoinsville; born 23 April 1896; entered service, 21 Sep 1917, at Camp
Gordon Ga.; transferred to Camp Sevier, S.C.; sailed overseas, 11 May
1918, serving with the A.E.F. until 27 Mar 1919; wounded in battle 17
Oct 1918.

# 19    Samuel Arnold
     Private, 169th M.G.Bn.,28th Div.; son of J.W. and M.L. Arnold of
Rogersville; born 8 Aug.1888; entered service, 25 May 1918 at Camp Pike,
Little Rock, Ark.; sailed overseas, 1 Aug 1918. He was not in any of the
big battles but was holding the lines under constant shell fire.

#20    James Arthur Ashe
     Private, 57th Pioneer infantry, Motor Truck Div.; son of John and
Emma Ashe of Pressman's Home; born 25 May 1897; entered service, 5 Sep.
1918, at Camp Wadsworth, Spartanburg, S.C.; sailed overseas, Sep.1918;
returned home in July 1919, having received his discharge.

of Eidson. Born 28 Jan 1891. Entered
service at Camp Gordon, Ga., 24 Sept.1917. Sailed overseas 24 May 1918
and was on the firing line when the
armistice was signed.

#2.   Ernest Thurman
    Private, 1 class Med. Corps. Son of Ben and Charlotte Thurman of
Rogersville. Born 18 June 1893. Promoted to
private first-class and received nurse's rating 18 Sept. 1918. Served at
Camp Mills, N.Y.

#3    James Hiram Shipley
    Sergeant, Engineers. Son of Mary E. and G. W. Shipley of Church
Hill. Born 6 May 1894. Entered service 3 Oct.
1917, at Camp Gordon, Ga. Transferred to Camp Upton and sailed overseas
29 Jul 1918. He was in the last drive
and on the front when the armistice was signed. Not wounded, but knocked
down by explosive shell during one battle.

#4    Clyde Chesnutt
    Private, Artillery. Son of Mr. and Mrs J.L.Chesnutt of Rogersville.
Born 1887.
Entered service 21 Sept.1917, at Camp Gordon, Ga., with 318th Field
Artillery and was Transferred to Camp
Jackson, S.C.. Sailed overseas 1 Aug. 1918.

#5    Marcelle Hawkins
    Private, Infantry. Son of H.W. and  Lou M. Hawkins of Church Hill.
Born 21 Dec. 1895. Entered service at Camp
Jackson, S.C., on 27 April 1918, serving for twenty-two days and being
honorably discharged on account of poor
health.

#6     Lee Goodson
    Private, Infantry. Son of P.B. and J.F. Goodson of Persia. Born 2
Dec 1894. Entered service at Ft. Oglethrope,
Ga. 13 May 1918, and was later transferred to Camp Forrest. Sailed
overseas 4 July 1918.

#7    Mina Goodson
    Private, Co.B.,117th Infantry, 30th Div. Son of P.B. and J.F.
Goodson of Persia. Born 20 Oct. 1891. Entered
service at Camp Gordon, Ga., 20 Sept. 1917, and was later transferred to
Camp Sevier, S.C. Sailed overseas 19
May 1918, and returned home 27 Mar 1919, landing at Charleston, S.C.

#8    Michael Fitzgerald Walsh
    Corporal, Hdq.Company 332d Infantry. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. G.
Walsh of Rogersville. Born in Hawkins County. Entered service at Camp
Gordon, Ga., 3 Oct. 1917, sailing overseas 1 Jul 1918.

#9    Arthur Barrett
    Private,Company B., 57th Pioneer Infantry. Son of J.N. and Maggie
Barrett of Rogersville. Born 1897. Entered service 5 Sept. 1918, at Camp
Wadsworth, S.C. Sailed overseas 28 Sept. 1918, arriving home again 6 Mar
1919.

Born 6 Nov. 1893. Entered service 4 Jun 1918, at Camp Gordon, Ga.,

Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga., 8 Sept. 1917, sailing overseas 1
May 1918. Helped to break the Hindenberg line Oct. 1918, and went over
the top several times.

#14    Charlie Claude Light
    Private, Radio Service. Son of Josephine Light of Burem. Born 7 Aug
1896. Entered service at Clemson College, Calhoun, S.C., 19 Sept. 1918,
continuing until 8 Dec in the radio signal service.

#15    Hannibal E. Bass
    Private, Field Artillary. Son of John M. and Sallie Bass of
Surgoinsville. Born 3 Nov 1891. Entered service at Camp Jackson, 25 May
1918, serving until 3 Jan. 1919,  when he was honorably discharged.

#16    Cleon A. Moore
    Private, Infantry. Son of Cleon R. and Sarah Moore of Mooresburg.
Born 14 Jan 1896. Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga., 21 Sept. 1917,
later being transferred to Camp Sevier. Sailed overseas May 1918.

#17    Strum Carson Bradley
    Corporal, M.T.C. No. 543. Son of J.C. and Rena Bradley of
Rogersville. Born 8 July 1890. Entered service at the University of
Tennessee, 1 Jul 1918, being transferred to Camp Joseph Johnson. Sailed
overseas 1 Oct 1918.

#18    Kyle Jackson
    Sergeant, 125th Infantry. Born 1 Jan 1893. Entered service at Camp
Pike, Ark., 25 May 1918. Sailed overseas 16 Aug. 1918, and was wounded
in the battle of Argonne 17 Oct 1918.

# 19    James Luther Trent
    Private, Engineers. Son of Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Trent of Eidson. Born
19 Oct. 1895. Entered service at the University of Kentucky, Lexington,
Ky. Sailed overseas about 1 Sept. 1918. Was also placed in training
school at Beaune, France, for
 engineering work.

#20    Roy Q. Lawson
    Private, Infantry. Son of Mary E. Lawson of Klondike. Entered
service 25 May 1918, at Camp Pike, Ark., and was later transferred to
Camp Merritt, N.J., where he served until the close of war.

Pressmen's Home, Tenn. Born 5 Mar.1895. Entered service at Camp Jackson,

S.C., 27 April 1918, sailing overseas 6 Aug 1918. Returned home safely
after several months abroad.

    Private, Q.M.C. Son of Linda Woods of Rogersville. Entered service
at Camp Greene, Charlotte, N.C., 30 Aug 1918.

#4    Dudley Patrick Greer
    Private, Infantry. Son of John and Emiline Greer of Suroginsville.
Entered service at Fort Thomas, KY., 8 July 1918. Did not get across but

was transferred to Camp Sheridan and thence to Camp Gordon where he was
discharged.

    Private, Infantry. Son of John and Josephine Marshall of Church
Hill. Born 11 Feb. (1918?). Entered service at Camp Pike, Little Rock,
Ark., 25 May 1918, Sailing overseas Aug. 1918.

    Private 20th Field Artillary. Son of Mike and Alice Mullins of
Church Hill. Born 7 June 1888. Entered service at Camp Gordon, on 21
Sept.
1917, sailing overseas 14 Jun 1918.

    Corporal, Bat.F, 318th Field Artillary. Son of S.S. and Kate Lane of

Church Hill. Born 3 Feb 1896. Entered service at Camp Gordon,  21 Sept
1917 and transferred to Camp Jackson, S.C., shortly thereafter. Sailed
overseas 5 Aug. 1918, with the 81st Div.

Born 17 Mar. 1892. Entered service at Camp Gordon on 24 June 1918,

overseas 18 Aug. 1918. Wounded in battle on 6 Nov. 1918.

#9    Henry C. Gulley
    Private, Infantry. Son of O.Z. and Mollie Gulley of Bulls Gap.
Entered service at Camp Gordon, on 21 Sept. 1917, and was later
transferred
to Camp Jackson. Sailed overseas, 6 April 1918 and was wounded in battle

#11    Harvey B. Williams
    Private, Infantry. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert William of St. Clair.
Born 22 Sept. 1894. Entered service at Fort Thomas, Ky., 8 July 1918;
transferred to Camp Sheridan, Ala. on 10 July 1918,  and thence to Camp
Gordon, 10 Dec. 1918, where he was mustered out of service on 28 Jan.
1919.

#12 Clyde Edgar Davis
    Corporal, Engineers. Son of W.H. and Mrs. W.H. Davis of Church Hill.

Born 2 Feb. 1886. Entered service at Camp Gordon, 21 Sept. 1917, being
later transferred to Camp Jackson. He was promoted to Corporal after
going to France.

#13    Arlie V. Gonce
    Private, 45th Infantry. Son of Harve and Martha Gonce of  Eidson.
Born 25 Dec 1892. Entered service at Ft.Thomas, Ky., on 8 July 1918,
later being transferred to Camp Sheridan, Ala.

#14    W.D. Sandidge
    Private, Q.M.C. Son of F.A. and H.M. Sandidge of Stony Point. Born 9
Feb 1896. Entered service at Syracuse, N.Y., on 2 Aug 1918, being later
transferred to Newport News, Va. Did not sail overseas due to the
signing of the Armistice.

    Private, Infantry. Son of R.E. and Annie Bradshaw of Honey Cutt.
Entered service at Camp Pike, Ark., on 25 May 1918, sailing for France
on 16 Aug. 1918. He arrived home again, landing at Hoboken, N.J. on
 2 April 1919.

#12   Perry B. Pearson
    Corporal, 117th Infantry. Son of P. and Alice A. Pearson of Lee
Valley. Born 3 Oct. 1895. Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga., on
 21 Sept 1917, later going to Camp Sevier, S.C. Promoted to corporal on
 2 March 1919, while in France, for which he sailed on 11 May 1918.
Wounded in battle of Premont on 8 Oct. 1918, with shrapnel. Received an
honorable discharge at Fort Oglethrope, Ga., on 18 April 1919.

   Private, Company B, 57th Infantry. Son of James and Leaner Hurd of
Eidson. Born 1897. Entered service at Camp Wadsworth, S.C.,5 Sept.1918.

Washington, D.C. and Camp Merritt, N.J. Sailed overseas 28 Oct.1917(?)

   Private, Infantry. Son of William and Fannie Floyd of Rogersville.
 Born 18 April 1892. Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga., on 21 Sept.
1917. Transferred to Camp Sevier and sailed overseas on 11 May 1918.
Discharged at Fort Oglethrope, Ga., on 17 April 1919, after 10 month's
service in France.

    Private, Infantry, 137th Div. Son of Lathe and Ella Bray of
Eidson.   Born 1 March 1891. Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga. on 24
June 1918,  sailing from Boston 1 July 1918 for France. On Verdun front,
on 12 Sept.  engaged as a runner for Regimental Headquarters. Lost in
No-man's-land   for four days. Returned to U.S., landing at Newport
News, Va., thence to  Battle Creek, Mich.

#4      Floyd Davis
    Private, 45th Infantry. Son of Samuel and Vinie Davis of Eidson.
 Born 16 Mar 1890. Entered service at Fort. Thomas, Ky.,on 8 July 1918,
and was transferred to Camp Sheridan, Ala.

    Private, Company M, 18th Infantry. Son of Marion and Hanok Morelock
 of Church Hill. Entered service at Camp Pike on 25 May 1918. Sailed
overseas shortly after this date.

#6      Earl S. Clifton
    Corporal, Radio Company, 326th F.S. Batt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. E.S.
Clifton of Rogersville. Born 30 May 1895. Entered service at Fort
Leavenworth, Kan. and was transferred to Camp Wadsworth, S.C. Later
went  to embarkation point and sailed overseas in August of 1918.

    Private, Infantry. Son of P.A. and M.J. Haun of Persia. Born 1891.
Entered service at Camp Wheeler, Macon, Ga., on 4 Sept. 1918.

Born  13 March 1893. Entered service at Camp Gordon, Ga. on 21 Sept.

    Sergeant, Infantry. Born 1 May 1893. Entered service at Camp Gordon
21 Sept. 1917, being later transferred to Camp Sevier. Member of the
Old  Hickory Division.

#12     James P. Holston
    Private, 153rd Aero Squad. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Holston of
Rogersville. Born 17 Dec 1895. Entered service at Rantoul, Ill.,
sailing  overseas on 31 Jan 1918. Trained Extensively in England and
France in   Pursuit Squadron. Returned home safely and was honorably
discharged on
 28 March 1919.

#13     Eldridge C. Dykes
    First Class private, Fire and Guard. Son of W.R. and R.M. Dykes.
 Born 5 July 1889. Entered service at Camp Hill, Newport News, Va.
Served  with 326th Mounted Guard Co., at Syracuse, N.Y., and several
months at   Camp Hill.

#14     Francis O. Smith
    Corporal, Field Artillery. Son of Lucian and Daisy Poats Smith of
Rogersville. Born 2 Aug. 1898. Entered service at Fort Oglethrope, Ga.,
 later being transferred to Camp Jackson. Was honorably discharged on
