Rose Ann Riney sent these images to be posted. George and Nancy Moore are her ggrandparents. The 3 other photos are in her possession and she does not know who the people are but is certain they are from Hardin County. If you can identify them, please contact her at: George Washington Moore. Born to William Starling (Sterling) Moore & his wife, Rachel Elizabeth Ferguson in Wilkes or Rowan County, North Carolina in 1816. My g-grandpa Moore, who lived in Hardin County for the last 15-20 years of his life. He was a captain in the CW for a short period of time until he was captured. He moved to Henderson County Tennessee in the 1850's or 1860's and removed to Hardin County around 1870, lived there until he lost his life in a farming accident in Oct. 1887. He is believed to be buried at Shady Grove cemetery in Saltillo, TN in Hardin County. This is Nancy Caroline (Cain), wife of George Washington Moore.I believe she was born in Alabama. Before she married George Washington Moore, she was married to his younger brother, Thomas. Thomas was killed when a mule kicked him on the head. She and Thomas had 3 children. Under this picture, it says,"Civil War Union Veterans Reunion, Saltillo." This is a picture of a civil war soldiers reunion, I believe this was taken at the Shady Grove Church & Cemetery in Saltillo, Tennessee, Hardin county. Does anyone know who any of these men are? Please contact me. The man in the picture has an arrow pointing at him, it says his name is ? Dickson. I believe that the 4th man from the left, standing in the back row may be my great grandpa Moore, looks alot like him to me & he was on the Union side, & he lived in Saltillo after the war. I have heard that his brother, E. N. or Nelson had a really slim face & long beard, the man to the right of him (George), fits that description.... he lived in Saltillo after the war too, I have found many times where the 2 were living next door to each other, etc, apparently they were always close, so even though Nelson was on the Confederate side, I am wondering if he was at the reunion too. I have heard that my great grandpa Moore had a GAR post in Henderson County named after him, don't know much about it, someone told me that she thought that it was true. So I looked it up on the internet, found a Gar post named after G.W. Moore in that county, that was all I could find, no other information. If someone could confirm this please contact Rose Ann. I have no idea who these ladies are, but I am sure they are from Hardin, maybe Wayne County TN. If anyone knows who they are, please contact me. I have no idea who this family is, but I am pretty sure that they are from Hardin County. If anyone knows who they are, please contact me.
