Twin Oaks

This is a picture of Twin Oaks.
It was built by J.N. Lannom in 1853, but remained unfinished until 1860 when Moses E. Senter purchased the house. Somewhere around civil war time it was sold to a Mr. T.H. Hutchinson. He sold it to Col. W.M. McCall in 1882. McCall owned the house until 1917. (NOTE: McCall promised its next owner that it would be sold to him so it would be back in the family.) In 1917 C.W. Rooks bought the house. Rooks married the granddaughter of Moses E. Senter, Kate Senter. Kate Senter Rooks was William T. Senter's daughter.

William T. Senter was in Forrest's calvary. It was used as a hospital for
the wounded during the civil war (Battle of Humboldt).

It has been in the family since 1917 and it is owned by Dr. Charlie Couch,
gg grandson of Moses E. Senter.
