This is the beginning of the listing of various Wilson County (and some Davidson Co) cemetery inscriptions I copied in the 1950s when I was still in high school. Hopefully, not too many of the dates and/or names were erroneously transcribed.


ALFORD FAMILY CEMETERY
- located on the WILEY ALFORD farm, Central Pike, which was then owned by Cousin Virgil Philpot.

WILEY ALFORD, born in Wake Co., NC (has Masonic emblem on tombstone) b. June 12, 1783 d. March 2, 1854

SOPHIA V. DRAKE ALFORD b. January 5, 1789 d. May 19, 1875

SHADRACK JARMON b. December 26, 1806 d. October 16, 1873

SUE E. CARVER b. February 22, 1845 d. November 20, 1896

JONAS P. CARVER b. June 29, 1841 d. November 20, 1879

NOTE: Sophia V. Drake Alford was wife of Wiley; Shadrack
Jarmon was their son- in-law, first husband of their daughter, Sophia Valentine Alford (1828-1895) who is buried in Sumner Co;
Sue E., was Susan Elizabeth Jarman, their only child and wife of Pleasant Jonas Carver, whose name is variously written interchanging his first two names.
Also buried there is JAMES TRUMAN HIBBETT, son of IRA KNELAND HIBBETT and MARTHA JONAS CARVER, the latter a daughter of the Carvers.
There is an infant child of the Carvers also interred there.
