November Term 1845

 

State of Tennessee, Benton County, November Term 1845.

At a County Court began and held for the County of Benton at the Courthouse in the Town of Camden on the first Monday in November.  It being the 3rd day of said Month in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty five & the 70th year of American Independence.  There being present and presiding on the bench the worshipfuls, Esqrs. D.P. Hudson, Chairman, Geo. W. Farmer, J.K. Thomas and John W. Davidson.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement with Samuel B. Pearce administrator of the Estate of John Morris deceased which said settlement was examined and appeared by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Kinchen Nunnery, Charles Kee and John Mothershead work under Thomas Swindle on the road in addition to his former hands.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that James Coffman, William Culpepper, Henry Hansel, David Ross, Mathews, Manning and John Buchanan be appointed a jury of review to view and Mark a road from Wynn’s ferry on Tennessee river to Hampton’s ford on Sandy and to Make report to the next term of this Court of the advantage and disadvantages arising to the public and to individuals.

Issued Nov. 5th.

On Motion it is order by the Court that Henry Stigall be appointed overseer of the room to work from the head of the race tracks to Oliver Armors, hands as follows, William Armor, Franklin Armor, Robert Armor, Wm. H. Presson, John Presson, Marcellus Cain and George Amor shall work under said Stigall on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.

November Term 1845.

Personally appeared in Court Thomas King who was this day chosen and appointed guardian of John F. Morris, a Minor and together with him L.H. Pope and E. Perkins his securities who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of their bond in the penal sum of one hundred & fifty dollars conditioned as the law directs.

Personally appeared in open Court Wm. H. Wheatly who was this day chosen and appointed guardian of Harrol Nobles a Minor heir of John Nobles deceased and together with him George W. Farmer his security who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of their bond in the penal sum of one hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Wilie Arnold, Daniel L. Settles and Timothy Reaves be appointed Commissioners to lay off and set apart a sufficiency of provisions to serve the children of Polly Lashlee deceased under the ages of fifteen years the term of 12 months and to make report to the next term of this Court.

Issued Nov. 5th 1845.

Personally appeared in open Court Samuel Oxford who was this day appointed guardian of the Minor heirs of Joshua Curtis deceased and together with him James Hogg his security who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of their bond in the penal sum of fifty dollars conditioned as the law directs.

On Motion of Lewis Lashlee and W. P. Lashlee who Made oath according to law and together with them, A. Lashlee their security who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of their bond in the penal sum of four hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs.  Whereupon, it is ordered by the Court that the said Lewis and Wm. P. Lashlee have letters of Administration upon the estate of Polly Lashlee, deceased to be Made out in due form of law when required.

November Term 1845.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that E. Graig be appointed overseer of the road to work from John D. Carnes to Cottingham Mill, hands as follows; James Cottingham and Jefferson Cottingham shall work under said Craig on said road which is established in the 3rd Class.

Issued Nov. 5th.

Court then adjourned until Court in Course.

At a County Court began and held for the County of Benton at the Courthouse in the Town of Camden on the first Monday in December it being the 1st day of said Month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty five and 70th Year of American Independence.  There being present and presiding on the bench the worshipfuls, Esqrs., to wit; D. P. Hudson, Chairman, E. Perkins and J.K. Thomas, Justices to hold said Courts.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Wm. M. Malin and Wm. Mothershead, Administrators of the estate of Wm. Malin, deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

Personally appeared in open Court William Sykes, Administrator of the estate of A.R. Sykes, deceased and returned the sale bill of the property of said estate and oath being Made to the same it is ordered to be recorded.
