OBITUARIES


HERBERT NATHANIEL RAMSEY
          Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cairo Church of Christ for Mr. Herbert Nathaniel Ramsey, who died at his home in the Cairo Community Sunday night. R. E. Black officiated, assisted by Rev. E. R. Roach. Burial was in the Cairo cemetery with Beard & Son Undertakers in charge.
          He was 59, born in Gibson County and was married to Miss Ottie May in 1916. He had been ill for 2 months.
          Active pallbearers were Revel and Dick Climer, James and Buddy Clements, John Cleek, Jr., and Wells Hargett. Honorary pallbearers were Bunny Wilfong, Al Latting, Dugan Reegan, Lawrence Robbins, Lossie Edwards, Malcolm Jones, Tom Privett, Leslie Vernon and Rob Perry.
          He leaves his wife; 3 brothers, Walter P. Ramsey of Green Cove, Charleston, West Virginia and Jeff Ramsey of Tiptonville; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Alford, New Orleans, La., Mrs. Mary Hood, Dyer, Mrs. Mattie Freeman, Carrolton, Miss., and Mrs. Clarence Skipper, Kenner, La.
          Mr. Ramsey was held in high esteem by all who knew him and leaves a wide circle of friends who are deeply grieved by his passing.

J. F. BROOKS
          J. F. Brooks, farmer in the Chestnut Bluff community, died at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Baird-Brewer Hospital in Dyersburg. He was 70.
          Services were held at the Lebanon Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon with the Rev. W. M. Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the Halls Cemetery.
          Mr. Brooks was a member of the Methodist Church.
          He leaves his wife, Mrs. Cordelia P. Brooks; four daughters, Mrs. Lee Hollman of Bells; Mrs. Joe Hamilton of Halls; Mrs. Geo. Ozment of Friendship and Mrs. Elvie Reynolds of Halls and two brothers, J. W. Brooks of Tarrington, Wyo., and E. H. Brooks of Blytheville, Ark.


MRS. J. R. AUSTIN
          Services for Mrs. Betty Bell Austin were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Maury City. The Rev. Ben Hill, Baptist minister of Friendship officiated. Burial was in the Maury City Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Austin died early Saturday morning after an illness of about three weeks.
          Mrs. Austin, a prominent resident of near Maury City, was born in Madison County and spent most of her life in Lauderdale and Crockett Counties. She was the wife of J. R. Austin, well-known farmer of Crockett County. She was 85, active in Baptist Church activities until recent years.
          She leaves her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Oliver Hilliard of Halls, Tenn.; four sons, Dr. C. L. Johnson of Memphis; Early Austin, well-known landowner of Crockett County; Johnny Austin, owner and operator of Austin's Gin in Maury City and Elbert Austin, merchant of Maury City; a stepson, Willie Austin of Maury City; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.


CAP REX HARRIS
          Cap R. Harris, night manager of the café at the Greyhound Bus Station in Memphis since last December, suffered a heart attack at the Station early Monday and died at 5 a.m. at John Gaston Hospital. He was 60.
          Born in Friendship, Mr. Harris lived in Crockett Mills and Alamo where he operated a café. He was a member of the Alamo Christian Church. He was well known in Crockett County where he had a host of friends.
          Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Bethesda Church near Friendship. Bro. Frank Perry of Selmer and Bro. Charles Herndon of Alamo officiated. Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          He leaves his children, two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Gilliam of Memphis and Miss Betty Sue Harris of Crockett Mills; two sons, Bill Harris of Memphis and Doyle Harris of Memphis; two grandchildren, two brothers, County Tax Assessor Jim Harris of Alamo and Frank Harris of San Antonio, Texas and one sister, Mrs. Rena Tillman.


HARRIS DEE RANDLE
          Mr. Harris Dee Randle, aged 80, died Monday night at 12:00 o'clock at his home in Alamo of a heart attack. He was in town Monday afternoon and apparently in the best of health.
          Mr. Randle was born and reared in this county. He was a retired farmer and was serving as City Tax Assessor at the time of his death. Mr. Randle was a high-toned Christian gentleman and for over 60 years a member of the Church of Christ.
          Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Alamo, E. V. Boone and R. E. Black officiating.
          Burial was in Cairo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie James Randle; one daughter, Mrs. R. L. Claiborne, Westmoreland, Tenn.; two sons, Otis Randle of Little Rock, Ark., and Percy Randle of Bells; two stepsons, Billy Hopper and McNeil Hopper of Alamo; two brothers, Elmo Randle and Bert Randle of Alamo; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Branch, Mrs. Nola Conley and Mrs. Verla Conley, all of Alamo, also six grandchildren.


MIDWAY
          Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Willie Horton in the loss of a stillborn son Sunday afternoon. Interment was in Poplar Corner Cemetery Monday morning.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Maclin, Maury City, Feb. 25, a daughter, Helen Faye.

MARRIAGES


BRIGANCE --- LOVE
          Of sincere interest to hundreds of friends was the marriage last Friday night of Miss Charlotte Brigance, daughter of Mayor A. L. Brigance and Mr. Algie Love. They pledged their troth at the First Christian Church with Rev. E. B. Motley as the officiating minister with only members of the immediate family present.
          After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Love left for a short honeymoon trip and on their return will go to housekeeping in a new house Mr. Brigance is building. Mr. Love is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Love and has large farming interests. Mrs. Love holds a secretarial position with the Winter Garden Freezer Co.


FREEMAN --- ANGE
          Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Freeman of Alamo announce the marriage of their son, Billy Joe Freeman to the former Miss Marvis Ange of Crockett Mills. The wedding took place in the home of Rev. M. C. Whitten of Hernando, Miss., Feb. 28, 1951.
          The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Ange of Halls.


MARY GIBSON IS BRIDE OF JAMES A. SPEARS, JR.
          In a beautiful and impressive ceremony Friday evening, February 16, at the Hardy Memorial Methodist Church, Miss Mary Ernestine Gibson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Egbert Gibson became the bride of James Arthur Spears, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Spears.
          The Rev. V. O. Cornelius read the single ring ceremony before a large group of relatives and friends.
          Mrs. Edward S. Couch, organist, played a program of nuptial airs preceding the wedding. She accompanied the soloist, A. P. Miller, Jr.
          The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride was attended by her sisters, Mrs. Bruce Kennedy and Miss Sally Gibson.
          The best man for the ceremony was James T. Meredith and groomsman was Everett W. Brown of Providence, Ky. Ushers were Calvin Stevens, William Malcolm, Jack Gray and Derrell May.
          Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Hotel McCartney. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Thomas Pirkey. Miss Jean Hopkins registered the guest in the bride's book.
          Assisting in the serving were Mrs. Patsy Harwell, Miss Anne Hargett, Miss Opal Campbell, Miss Betty May and Miss Rebecca Spears, sister of the bridegroom.
          The couple left on a wedding trip to New Orleans, La., and Biloxi, Miss. On their return they will be at home at 1821 County Avenue.
          Mrs. Spears is a graduate of Texas senior high school and a former student of Texarkana College. She was a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority. At present she is employed at the Texarkana National Bank. Mr. Spears is a graduate of Arkansas senior high school and attended Henderson State Teachers College and Texas University. He served in the army for three years, two and one half years of which was spent with the occupation forces in Germany. He is employed at General Contract Purchase Corporation.
          Mary Gibson is the granddaughter of the late J. C. W. Nunn.

OBITUARIES


JOEL F. MANSFIELD
          Joel F. Mansfield, 78, a leading farmer of the Lebanon Church community, died Friday at 3 a.m. at Prather Clinic in Alamo. Mr. Mansfield had been in ill health for the past two years.
          He was a member of the Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World and was one of the community's most highly respected citizens.
          Services were held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Lebanon Church, the Rev. W. M. Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
          Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie May White Mansfield; one son, Robert Finis Mansfield of St. Louis, Mo.; and one daughter, Mrs. Ophelia Riddick of Memphis and seven grandchildren.


OLIVER T. DELINGHAM
          Oliver T. Delingham, 53 years old passed away at his home in Chicago on February 24th. He was born in Montgomery, Ala. and spent the early part of his life in Monroe County, Iowa. Later he married Catherine Brothers in Chicago and they have two sons, John and Lee.
          Mr. Delingham was a post office employee for 31 years and was general foreman of the registry division in the main post office and was a past commander of Van Buren Post No. 401 of the American Legion, also the president of the Last Man's Club an organization from the above post.
          Services were held at St. Killan's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Past Commanders of his post acted as pall bearers with complete Military services at the grave side in St. Mary's Cemetery in Chicago.
          Mr. Delingham is the cousin of Mrs. Andrew J. Tucker of Alamo and Mrs. H. B. Boswell of Bells.
          Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Boswell spent several days in Chicago and attended the funeral.

THOMAS L. MATHEWS
          Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Grove Baptist Church for Thomas L. Mathews, who died at his home near Maury City Sunday. James P. Needham, minister of the Church of Christ of Maury City officiated. Burial was in Robertson Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          Mr. Mathews was 72 and a veteran of the Spanish American War.
          He leaves his wife; one daughter, Miss Louise Mathews of Maury City and one brother, Carlton Mathews of Caruthersville, Mo.


CLARENCE CASEY PASSES AWAY
          Mr. Clarence Casey of St. Louis, Mo., passed away last Thursday and his body was brought back to his native county for burial. Mr. Casey was 72 years old and had worked for the G.M.&O. Railroad Co. for 53 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Casey who were among the pioneers of Crockett County. The Masonic funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in the Goosmann Funeral Home and burial followed in Belleview Cemetery.
          Mr. Casey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Grable Casey and two brothers, Mr. Walter Casey of Seattle, Wash., and Mr. A. P. Casey of Bells.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Joyner, Friendship, Rt. 1, February 28, a daughter, Joan Maxine.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Edd Fain Bushart, Halls, Rt. 3, March 1, a son, Lloyd Don.


ALAMO
          News was received here from Cpl. Huston E. Joiner and Mrs. Joiner of Los Angeles, Calif., of a daughter born Feb 10th. She has been named Rita Ann and is the great granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Warren.


ENGAGEMENT


BUTLER --- FRYE
          Mr. and Mrs. George Butler of Bells are announcing the engagement of their youngest daughter, Ruth, to Mr. Fred Jefferson Frye of Lambuth College. The wedding will take place in the near future.


MARRIAGES


COLVETT --- HOPPER
          Mr. and Mrs. Fonnie Colvett of Alamo announce the marriage of their daughter, Marcell, to Mr. Merlon Hopper, son of Mrs. Luther Hopper of Alamo and the late Mr. Hopper, on Wednesday, March 7th at Corinth, Miss. Mr. Allen, minister of the Church of Christ of Corinth, performed the ceremony.
          Mrs. Hopper was dressed in a navy suit with pink and navy accessories.
          She is a graduate of Alamo High School and has been employed as secretary for Ronk Funeral Home for the past several years.
          Mr. Hopper is School Plant Supervisor of Crockett County Schools.
          Mr. and Mrs. Hopper are very popular young people and have the best wishes of their many friends.


FOWLER --- SELPH
          In a single ring ceremony solemnized at the Methodist parsonage Friday, Feb 16th at 2:00 o'clock, Miss Delores Mae Fowler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd W. Beadles, became the bride of Mr. John Anderson Selph, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Selph. Rev L. H. Westphal performed the ceremony.
          The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, Mr. Beadles. She wore a lovely navy blue suit with dark red accessories and a shoulder corsage of red carnations. She was attended by her mother who wore a gray suit with black accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The bride was graduated from Slater, Mo. High School in 1949. The groom -----(left out of article) School in 1948. He is employed with the G.M.&O. R.R. in Slater, Mo.
          A wedding dinner was given by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beadles. The couple left for a short honeymoon. On their return they will make their home in Slater, Mo.

OBITUARIES


MRS. ESTELLE AGEE
          Services for Mrs. Estelle Agee, 73, who died at her home in Halls Friday were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Floyd's Chapel Methodist Church, near Maury City by Rev. Jonas Stewart. Burial was in the church cemetery with Garner's Funeral Home in charge.
          Mrs. Agee was born in Crockett County but spent most of her life in Lauderdale County. She leaves three sons, Claude, Romice and Leroy Agee all of Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Vera Patton of San Antonio, Texas and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Riddick and Mrs. Ida Agee, both of Maury City.


MRS. OPHELIA PITTMAN BRIMM
          Mrs. Ophelia Pittman Brimm died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Boyd near Gadsden. Mrs. Brimm was 72 and the widow of the late Jim Brimm, leading farmer and pioneer citizen of the Brimm's Corner community near Alamo. She had many friends who will deeply regret to learn of her passing.
          Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pond Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Charles P. Herndon officiating, assisted by Rev. E. R. Roach. Burial was in the church cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          She leaves four other daughters, Mrs. Mary Jones of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Festus Boothe of Maury City, Mrs. C. C. Roberts of Alamo and Mrs. Helen Lucas of Halls; a son Hamlett Brimm of Alamo; a sister, Mrs. Joe Jones of Maury City; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.


JAMES E. CASTELLAW
          James E. Castellaw, well-known citizen of the Eleventh District, died Friday night at 9:30. Mr. Castellaw was 79 years of age and a life long resident of the county. He was a highly respected farmer and a member of the Baptist Church at Barker's Chapel.
          He leaves his wife; eight sons, Roland Castellaw, superintendent of schools at Covington, Paul Castellaw and Eura Castellaw of Maury City, Ivan Castellaw of Alamo, Myram and Lavel Castellaw of Memphis and Riddell and Leon Castellaw of Friendship; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Revelle and Mrs. Mary Nell Redmond of Crockett Mills, Mrs. Hazel Archer of Memphis, Miss Juanita Castellaw of Maury City and Mrs. Ruth Thompson of Savannah; three sisters, Mrs. Will Mayo of Maury City, Mrs. Pearl Lyons of Auburn, Wash., Mrs. Daisy Morrell of Tacoma, Wash., and one brother, Sam Castellaw of Bemis.


MRS. C. H. FORSYTHE
          Mrs. Ethel Mae Forsythe, 64, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis Friday. She was a devoted member of Boulevard Baptist Church, Memphis. She leaves her husband, C. H. Forsythe, a daughter, Miss Georgia Mae Forsythe and a sister, Mrs. Sallie Standley, all of Memphis. She was a native of Crockett County but had lived in Memphis for the past 30 years.


C. A. (GUS) JONES
          Services for C. A. (Gus) Jones who died at his home in the Dry Hill community of Lauderdale County, were held Sunday at the Lebanon Church of Christ near Halls with Clyde McCord of Gates officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Garner Funeral Home in charge. He was 75 years of age, a native of Crockett County, but had lived in Lauderdale County the greater part of his life.


MRS. E. J. PULLEY STRICKEN, DIES
          Mrs. May Olah Pulley, wife of E. J. Pulley, retired contractor was watching television last night at her home, 1105 N. Seventh, when she suffered a heart attack. She was dead on arrival at St. Joseph's Hospital at 11 p.m. She was 76.
          Mrs. Pulley, who had long been active in First Baptist Church and was a member of TEL class there, had lived in Memphis since 1921.
          She and her husband celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last November.
          She was born in Crockett County, Tenn., and lived, before her marriage, on her parent's farm near Friendship, Tenn.
          She also leaves two daughters, Mrs. W. T. Mar, Sr., and Mrs. Stanley Alexander, both of Memphis; her son, W. C. Pulley of San Francisco; two grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

JAMES OBIE CLARK
          Services for James Obie Clark who died at his home near Friendship Monday after several months' illness were held at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at the Tigrett Church of Christ with Edgar Williams officiating. Burial was in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
          Mr. Clark, who was 74, was a farmer and member of a pioneer family in West Tennessee.
          He leaves two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Via of Friendship and Mrs. Inez Golden of Dyersburg; three sons, Paul Clark of Baton Rouge, La., Marion Clark of Trenton and Lacy Clark of Friendship, and two sisters, Mrs. T. L. Stallings of Tigrett and Mrs. Clifford Mobley of Friendship.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cotham, Jr., Humboldt, Route 1, March 8, a daughter, Marcie Elaine.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Emerson P. Scallions, Maury City, March 8, a son, Gary Stephen.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Claude London, Halls, Route 3, March 11, a daughter, Gwendolyn Gail.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Prater, Halls, Route 3, March 12, a son, John.


ALAMO
          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Norville at Madison County Hospital on March 10th a girl. She has been named Carol.


MAURY CITY
          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Scallions on Mar. 8th, a son, in Prather Clinic in Alamo.


MIDWAY
          Mr. and Mrs. Stacey Bailey of Chestnut Bluff are announcing the arrival of a baby daughter on Mar 5. She has been given the name, Vickie Lamar Bailey. They are in the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stephens.


          Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rosson are the proud parents of a baby daughter born Feb 28 at St. Mary's hospital in Humboldt. She has been given the name, Patricia Dianne Rosson.

OBITUARIES


MRS. SALLY ANN SEATON
          Mrs. Sallie Ann Seaton of Collierville, mother of Mr. H. A. Terry of Alamo and Earvin Terry of Collierville died at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon at the John Gaston Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient since February 4th. She was 74. Funeral services are at Finley Thursday afternoon. Burial was in Providence Cemetery with J. W. Curry & Son in charge.


MRS. R. THORNTON, SR.
          Mrs. Raymond Thornton of Bonicord died Monday morning of a heart attack. She was born near Friendship and spent all of her life in Crockett and Dyer Counties. She was 52 and a member of the Church of Christ.
          Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Millers Chapel Church with Earl Fly officiating. Burial was in Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge.

          Born to Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Avery, Alamo, March 14, a son, Michael Holmes.


ENGAGEMENT


MISS WYLIE --- MR. DOTY TO MARRY
          Heralding a late spring wedding, is the formal announcement made today by Mr. and Mrs. Urban Francis Wylie of Brighton, Tenn., of the engagement of their daughter, Eunice Elizabeth, and Mr. Thomas Walter Doty, Jr., of Jackson and Paris, Tenn. Mr. Doty is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walter Doty of Paris.
          Miss Wylie, who has been popularly identified as Home Agent in Jackson and Madison County since 1948 and graduated from the Brighton High School and received her B.S. degree in Home Economics from the University of Tennessee. She was Home Demonstration Agent in Crockett County for two and one half years prior to coming to Jackson.
          Mr. Doty was graduated from the Grove High School, Paris and received his B.A. degree from Lambuth College. He was a member of the Kappa Phi Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Doty served in the Finance Department with the U.S. Army for three and one half years during World War II, and is now Division Chief of the Jackson Internal Revenue Office.
          Plans for the ceremony which will take place in the late spring, will be told at a later date.

MARRIAGE


BUTLER --- FREY
          In a wedding of sweet simplicity and impressiveness, Miss Ruth Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Butler of Bells was married last Friday night at eight o'clock to Mr. Fred Frey, son of Rev. and Mrs. C. O. Frey of Friendship in the Bells Methodist Church with the groom's father performing the ceremony.
          A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Guy Mobley pianist, proceeding and during the ceremony.
          The bride was given in marriage by her father and her only attendant was Miss Frances Boggs. The best man was Mr. Joe Frey, brother of the groom and Messrs Guy Mobley and Guy Musgraves served as ushers.
          Immediately after the wedding the bride and groom left for their apartment in Jackson where they are now housekeeping.

OBITUARIES


JENNIE LEE LEWIS
          Funeral services where held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Alamo First Christian Church for Miss Jennie Lee Lewis, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Pearl Oldham in Alamo Monday night. Rev. William Huie of Humboldt officiated. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge.
          Miss Lewis, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Q. T. Lewis pioneer citizens of Crockett County, had been in ill health for several years. Her patient suffering and kind disposition had endeared her to all who knew her. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Alamo.
          She leaves her sister, Mrs. Oldham and one brother, Roy Lewis of Alamo.


MRS. RUBY COOK
          Services for Mrs. Ruby Cook, who died Monday following a stroke, were held at the residence of a son, John Cook in the Mason Grove community Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Carl Davis assisted by Reba Roberts. Burial was in Raines Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. She was ill one week.
          Mrs. Cook was 75 years of age and a native of Stewart County. She was a Methodist and had lived in the Mason Grove Community for many years. Surviving are two sons, John Cook of Mason Grove, Layton Cook of Gadsden and three daughters, Mrs. Edd David of Beech Bluff, Tenn., Mrs. Bernard Raines of Gadsden and Mrs. Hearn Kernodle of Jackson.


MRS. MATTIE WOODS OLIVER
          Funeral services were held at the Maury City Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2 for Mrs. Mattie Woods Oliver who died Friday at her home in Maury City. Rev. L. A. Smithmier of Maury City officiated. Burial was in Babbs Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          Mrs. Oliver was born in Gibson County April 30, 1867 and had lived in Maury City for the past 6 years. She was a Methodist.
          She leaves five sons, Lonnie, Odell, Zee and Elmer Oliver of Maury City and Johnnie Oliver of Alamo; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Freeman of Alamo and two brothers, John Woods of Doniphan, Mo., and Frank Woods of Milan.


MRS. EVIE ANNA BRUCE
          Mrs. Evie Anna Bruce, widow of the late James Bruce, died at her home in Alamo Monday afternoon after an illness of several weeks.
          Mrs. Bruce was a native of Mississippi but had been a resident of this county for a greater part of her life.
          She was 77 years of age, a member of the Baptist Church and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.
          Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alamo by Rev. W. Floyd Cates, pastor, assisted by E. R. Boone, minister of the Church of Christ.
          Burial was in Providence Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
          She is survived by one son, S. L. Bruce of the U. S. Navy; one brother, John McNatt of Maury City and one sister, Mrs. Will Nichols of near Alamo.

          Mrs. Floyd Terry and daughter spent last week in Memphis visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Langston who are the parents of a new son, born March 10th at the Baptist Hospital.

CALDWELL --- BURNS
          In a very simple ceremony on March 17th, Miss Carolyn Caldwell, daughter of Mrs. Norma Caldwell of Alamo and the late Noble Caldwell became the bride of Mr. Edward Burns, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Burns of Alamo.
          The marriage vows were said in the study of the officiating Minister in Hernando, Miss. The double ring ceremony was used.
          Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Elder of Ripley, Tenn., sister and brother-in-law of the groom.
          The bride is a graduate of Alamo High School and is now employed in Memphis.
          The groom attended Alamo High School and is serving in the U. S. Navy stationed at Great Lakes, Ill.
