OBITUARIES
JOHN H. LANIER
Services for John H. Lanier, retired farmer who died Thursday at the home of his son Tollice, near Crockett Mills, were held Friday at Providence Baptist Church with Elder Perkins of Kentucky officiating. Mr. Lanier was of the Primitive belief.
Thompson Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements and burial in Lanier graveyard.
Mr. Lanier was 75 years of age and one of the leading citizens of the Ninth District. He was at one time a member of the Crockett County Court.
He leaves another son, Russell Lanier of Crockett Mills; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Powell of Maury City; Mrs. Pearl Woods of Crockett Mills, two brothers, Edd Lanier of Memphis and Albert Lanier of Meridian, Miss.
The Laniers have lived in the Crockett Mills community for many years and many other relatives and friends survive Mr. Lanier.
MRS. B. D. McKNIGHT
Services for Mrs. B. D. McKnight, who died Thursday in Reno, Nev., were held in Ripley, Tuesday at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Howell Taylor and the Rev. L. O. Hartman officiated. Mrs. McKnight was 67 and the mother of eight children, six sons and two daughters who survive. She was the widow of the late Burnie D. McKnight, contractor, who built the first brick school building in Friendship and other buildings in the business district. The McKnight family lived where Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Chambers now live. They had many friends in Friendship and community. Mrs. McKnight was a musician and teacher of voice.
MRS. ALICE JANE FARROW DANIELS
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Jane Farrow Daniels, who died at her home in Madison County on Feb 25 at 6:10 a.m., were at the Church of Christ in Bells, February 26 and 2 p.m. with Bro. Richardson as the officiating minister. Burial was in Belleview Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge of the services.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by her children, Mrs. B. E. Lewis, Bells, Mr. W. W. Daniels, Earle, Ark., Miss Eunice Daniels, Bells, a brother Edgar Farrow, Bells, two sisters, Mrs. Ludie Graves and Mrs. Kate Barrow of Humboldt.
BIRTHS
ALAMO
Born Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. Doris Williams of near Alamo, an eight and one-half pound girl in Jackson hospital.
Announcements have been received by friends here of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Nels Peterson of Santa Ana, Calif. on Feb. 18, who has been named, Nels Weldon. Mrs. Peterson was formerly Virginia Weldon Irvine.

OBITUARIES
MRS. BEATRICE ANN HUDSON
Services for Mrs. Beatrice Ann Hudson who died at her home on March 4, at 8:10 a.m., were held at the Old Gibson Baptist Church on March 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Ronk Funeral Home in charge of the services. Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Church of Christ and was 75 at the time of her death.
She is survived by five children; Mr. Rob Hudson, Mrs. Myrtie Woods and Mrs. Ida Gordon of Gibson County; Mr. Willie Hudson, Crockett County; and Mr. Albert Hudson, Arkansas; one half sister, Mrs. Belle Hickson, Perry County.
MRS. EVIE MAE HORTON
Mrs. Evie Mae Horton, mother of Mrs. Lillian Wilkerson of Bells, passed away Friday, March 5 at 12:10 o'clock p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wilkerson. She had been bedridden for ten years. Her survivors are her only child Mrs. Lillian Wilkerson; three grandchildren, Bernard, Owen Dell and Farrow Wilkerson and five great grandchildren. She has two sisters, Mrs. Lee Freeman and Mrs. Dena Young.
R. L. McGEE
Funeral services were held in Yorkville Baptist Church, Thursday afternoon, March 4 at 2:00 o'clock for R. L. McGee of Yorkville. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Leon Conley of Jackson and Rev. J. T. Barker of Newbern. Interment in Yorkville Cemetery.
He was born August 29, 1865 in Haywood County, moving to Crockett County at an early age where he was engaged in farming and milling business. In 1911 he moved to Gibson County near Yorkville where he continued to operate his farm until his retirement two years ago.
He was the survivor of a family of ten children, was converted and joined the Baptist Church in early life to which he remained a faithful and loyal member to the day of his death.
He was married to Miss Alice Ray, December 31, 1884, who preceded him in death 1 year and 18 days. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Banks P. Turner of Yorkville, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. His genial disposition, high moral standards and love for people, won his many and lasting friends.
S. H. BURNETT
S. H. (Sam) Burnett died Tuesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was spending the winter. Mr. Burnett was 77 years of age. He suffered a stroke a few years ago from which he never fully recovered.
Mr. Burnett was a member of one of the pioneer families of the county and was born and reared in the Eighth District where he spent the greater part of his life. He was a member of the county court for many years and was Chairman of that body for several years. He was always active in political affairs and a gifted public speaker. He was well known throughout the county and had many friends.
Mr. Burnett married Miss Mollie Worrell when a young man and reared the following sons who survive: Hill of Jackson, Dallas of No. 8, Leon of Jackson and Dorsey of Elizabethton, Tenn. "Miss" Mollie passed away several years ago. He was married about two years ago to Mrs. Madella Anderson of Kentland, Ind., who survives.
The remains are expected to arrive in Alamo Thursday afternoon and funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the home in District No. 8.
Rev. Frank Perry will conduct services.

MARRIAGE
IVEY --- HANSLEE
Miss Bernice E. Ivey was married to Harry H. Henslee on February 27th in the Civil Courts Building, St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Lynn Carl and Mrs. Isabelle Fenton were the only attendants. Mrs. Carl is the groom's sister.
Mrs. Henslee is the daughter of Mrs. Albert W. Ivey of Bells, Tenn., and has been in St. Louis for the past two and one half years.
Mr. Henslee is an employee of the Emerson Electric Co. They plan to continue in their business and make St. Louis their permanent home.

W. L. PEAL, JR.
Services for W. L. Peal, Jr., who died at the home of his father in Maury City Monday morning at 9:15 were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Cairo Church of Christ, R. E. Black, officiating. Garner Funeral Home of Ripley was in charge. Burial was at Cairo.
Mr. Peal was 20. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Peal; two brothers, Orel Peal of near Alamo, and Aubrey Peal of Connecticut; four sisters, Mrs. Alfred Earnheart of Alamo, Mrs. Ernest Avery of Baton Rouge, La., Lillian and Pearl Peal of Alamo. Mr. Peal was a member of the Church of Christ.
MRS. SALLY DARTY
Services were held at Forked Deer Baptist Church Sunday for Mrs. Sally Ann Darty, lifelong resident of the Cross Roads community near Halls, who died at her home Saturday night. The Rev. S. B. Morrison and the Rev. A. T. Evans officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Sudbury Funeral Home. Mrs. Darty was 77 and the widow of W. J. Darty. She leaves two sons, John and Burl Darty of Friendship, and four daughters, Mrs. Marvin Smith, Mrs. John Bailey and Mrs. McKinley Jones all of Halls, and Mrs. Richard Ange of Columbus, Ind.
GLYNN AND LYNN LEGGETT
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the home near Friendship for Glynn and Lynn Leggett, infant sons of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Leggett, Jr. who died at home Monday afternoon. Rev. A. T. Evans of Fowlkes officiated.
They are survived by their parents, two sisters, Gloria Jean and Ellen Teresa, one brother, Jerry Jones Leggett and their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Leggett, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Jones.
Burial was in Sudbury Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home in charge.

MORRIS --- ARCDHIBALD
Miss Mary Archibald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Archibald of Alamo became the bride of Fate Morris, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Fate Morris, Sr. of Somerville in a ceremony at 4:30 Sunday afternoon at the Alamo Baptist Church. Rev. T. N. Hale of Somerville Baptist Church officiated before an altar decorated with a deep green background of woodwardia and huckleberry with baskets of white gladiola. Branched candelabra held white tapers. The double ring ceremony was used.
Mrs. Theo Emison played the nuptial music and Mr. Barney Thompson, director of music, Lambuth College, was soloist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Madelyn Mayo of Memphis was maid of honor and the bride's only attendant. Henry Atkinson of Nashville was best man. The ushers were Jerry Boone, Corinth, Miss.; Rex Mayo, Alamo; Max Reams, Humboldt and Billie Carter, Trenton.
DARTY --- FEWELL
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Darty of Friendship announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Darty to Roy Fewell, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Fewell of Alamo.
The wedding was a double ring ceremony solemnized Sunday evening at 6:30, March 14 by the Rev. J. Paul Palmer in the Alamo Baptist Church in the presence of a few close friends. The bride wore a pink spring suit with navy accessories and a corsage of blue carnations.
After a short honeymoon the couple will make their home in Morriston, Mo. where Roy is employed.

OBITUARIES
MRS. HENRY GREER
Services for Mrs. Tennessee Greer who died Saturday at 10 o'clock at her home near Alamo were held Sunday at 2:30 at Mt. Olive with the Rev. George Pressler officiating with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery. Mrs. Greer was 58. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church at Mt. Olive. Her husband, Henry Green; two sons, Laman and Earl Greer; two daughters, Mrs. Loucille Hutcherson and Mrs. Mildred Emison, all of this county and one brother, A. A. Laman of Dyersburg and a sister, Mrs. Ella Evans of Gadsden survive.
R. C. BRADFORD
Services for R. C. Bradford of Cabot, Ark., father of Roark Bradford, well known Southern author were held at 1:30 Monday at Halls Methodist Church. The Rev. W. F. Maxedon officiated. Burial was in Halls Cemetery.
Mr. Bradford, who was 87, died of pneumonia Saturday night in St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born in Lake Charles, La. and lived in Halls from 1906 to 1911. He then moved to Cabot where for many years he was a real estate and insurance agent.
Mr. Bradford was a member of the Cabot Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church.
In addition to his son, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Lucy Glover Bradford; two other sons, Dr. W. H. Bradford of Washington and J. B. Bradford, an engineer at Oak Ridge; four daughters, Miss Ruth Bradford, with the Congressional Library in Washington, Mrs. J. C. Galloway of Beebe, Ark., Mrs. J. C. Alexander of Cabot and Mrs. Y.S. Brown of Halls
MRS. ALICE RIDDICK
Mrs. Alice Riddick, 3569 Kruger, died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital following a heart attack. Mrs. Riddick had entered the hospital for an examination Saturday and suffered several attacks since. She was 73.
Born near Maury City, Tenn., she had lived in Memphis for 50 years. She was a Methodist.
She leaves three sons, R. M., Neamon and Herman J. Riddick all of Memphis; her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lyons of Wisner, La.; her sister, Mrs. Mollie Perry of Halls, Tenn.; two brothers, Lanny Riggins of Blytheville, Ark., and Will Riggins of Ripley, Tenn.
Services were at National Funeral Home. Rev. Robert A. Clark, officiating. Burial was in Old Field Cemetery, near Maury City.

JOHN WESLEY ROBBINS
Funeral services were held Friday at the Sudbury Funeral Home for John Wesley Robbins, who died Thursday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Betty Kail of Alamo. Rev. W. C. Skinner officiated. He was 71.
Burial was in Sudbury Cemetery.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Kail and one brother, George Robbins of California.
CHARLES S. FLACK
Services for Charlie Sylvester Flack, 78, were held Sunday at the Baptist Church in Newbern. Mr. Flack was a farmer living near Newbern and died at his home there. Rev. J. T. Barker conducted funeral services. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Flack leaves his wife Mrs. Ruby Greer Flack, formerly of Friendship; four daughters, Mrs. C. W. Baldridge of Obion, Mrs. Bernie Meadows of Newbern, Mrs. Claude McTosh of Kenton and Mrs. W. C. Sowers of Akron, Ohio; a son, Finis Flack, also eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The children were by a former marriage.
BIRTHS and WEDDING
ALAMO
Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Moss Cherry on March 18 at Baptist Hospital, Memphis, a daughter. She has been given the name Diane.
GADSDEN
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Covington are the parents of a daughter born Tuesday, March 9th at St. Mary's Hospital in Humboldt.
WILLIAMS --- HAWKINS
Miss Mary Williams and Mr. J. F. Hawkins were married at the Baptist Pastorium, Wednesday night at 9 o'clock in a simple ceremony performed by Bro. W. G. Skinner.
Mrs. Hawkins was dressed in a spring suit of gray wool with black accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. She is the daughter of the late D. P. and Mrs. Williams and for a number of years was telephone operator at Friendship.
They will make their home in Friendship where Mr. Hawkins has been a successful farmer for many years.
BARRY --- McCARLEY
Luila Blandon Barry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Barry of Johnson City, became the bride of Lavoyd C. McCarley, son of Mrs. Gladys McCarley and the late Clifton McCarley of Alamo in a ceremony performed March 6 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church in Kingsport by the Rev. S. K. Weidness. The single ring ceremony was used.
The bride wore a blue suit with navy accessories. Her flower was a corsage of orchids.
The only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mitchell, close friends of the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. McCarley will make their home in Kingsport where Mr. McCarley is in business.
