OBITUARIES


Mrs. Ocie Daniel--Services for Mrs. Ocie Daniel who died at her home near Friendship on Nov. 24th, were held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church, with Rev. Frank Perry officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Daniel was 38 years of age and a member of the Christian Church. She leaves her husband, a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Daniel; three sisters, Mrs. R. H. Barcroft of Raleigh, Mrs. George Moore and Miss Helen Eskew of Friendship; three brothers, Jesse Eskew of Trenton and Mose and Jim Eskew of Friendship.

Alamo--Mr. and Mrs. Porter Graves and daughter, Mrs. Charles Turner, attended the funeral of Mrs. Graves's stepsister, Mrs. Julius Asher, at Gleason, Sunday. This is the second death in the family in less than two weeks, Mrs. Graves's sister having been buried on the 11th of November.

Alamo--Mr. R. A. Randolph and son, Andrew Randolph, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Randolph and son, Barney Randolph and wife attended the funeral of their sister and aunt, Mrs. Mary Gambles, in Halls, Friday. Mrs. Gambles died at her home in Memphis.

Luther C. Wiley--Mr. Luther C. Wiley died at his home in Friendship Tuesday afternoon after an illiness of several days. He was 61 and a devout member of the Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services with Sudbury Funeral Home, incomplete pending the arrival of his son, Bearl Wiley, who is in the Army stationed in Germany. Burial will be in Sudbury Cemetery. Besides a large number of friends, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Julia King Wiley, three daughters, Mrs. Shelby Thompson of Dyersburg, Mrs. Mark Stewart of Trenton and Mrs. A. F. Rogan of St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, Earl of Fowlkes and Bearl of Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Stanfield of Saltillo, Tenn., and Mrs. Matt Newman of Fillmore, Calif.; two brothers, Stewart Wiley of Lexington, Tenn., and Clifford Wiley of Kosciusko, Miss.

Coxville--Word was received here last Friday of the sudden death of Mr. Perry Mose Cox, Sr., age 69, of Bartlett, Texas who suffered a heart attack earlier in the day. Mr. Cox was born and reared at Coxville and was a brother of Mr. E. S. Cox and Mrs. C. H. James. He had been a resident of Bartlett for many years and was a prominent banker there and also a large landowner. He married a Texas girl, the former Haydon Sharp, the daughter of a prominent physician. They have a son, Perry, Jr., and several grandchildren of Bartlett. Perry M. had many friends and relatives here who were saddened to hear of his passing.

BIRTH


Bells Items--Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Harmon of Nashville are announcing the birth of a daughter on November 23rd at St. Thomas Hospital. Mrs. Harmon is the former Martha Pace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Pace.

WEDDINGS


Alamo--Miss Dorothy Dodson spent Thanksgiving in Collierville, Tenn. where she was an attendant in the wedding of Miss Rebecca Gilbert and Mr. George May.

Davis-Boyd--Miss Genrose Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harless Davis of Gadsden became the bride of James Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Boyd of Fruitvale, Wednesday, November 17. The wedding was quietly solemnized in the manse of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Erin, Tenn., in the presence of immediate families with Rev. Carl Davis, uncle of the bride, officiating, using the double ring ceremony. The bride wore a grey suit with winter green accessories. Her flowers were yellow rosebuds. After a short wedding trip, they will make their home in Gadsden.

Speight-Redmond--Miss Louise Redmond, daughter of C. H. Redmond and Dean Speight, son of Mrs. Eva Speight, were married in Hernando, Miss., on Wednesday, November 24th, in the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Wilson Darden, by Rev. Whitten. The couple will reside at the home of the groom near Nance.

OBITUARIES


Miss Sylvia A. Clement--Funeral Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Providence Baptist Church for Miss Sylvia Clement, Rev. W. C. Clement of Friendship, officiating. Miss Clement died at her home near Crockett Mills late Tuesday afternoon, after an illness of three months. Burial was in Providence Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge. She was 80 years of age and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Crockett Mills community and leaves a host of friends. She is survived by two brothers, John P. Clement of Crockett Mills and J. E. Clement of Alamo, Rt. 1; three nephews and one niece.

Mrs. Eli Bradley--Services for Mrs. Eli Bradley of Alamo, who died Saturday were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Alamo Baptist Church with the Rev. Haywood Highfill and the Rev. J. P. Palmer officiating. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Bradley was 66 and a member of the Baptist Church. She was reared near Bells. Her husband, three children, Mrs. Lizzie Chatham of Humboldt, Mrs. Jerman Kee of Alamo and Mrs. Roy Reasons of Bells, and one sister, Mrs. Eugene Buford of Bells survive.

Alamo--Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Bowen and daughter, Mrs. Barney Norville and Mrs. Norville of Bells attended the funeral of Miss Pearl Woods at Bonicord, Sunday.

Alamo--Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Pinkston of Dallas, Texas were guests of their sister, Miss Lurlyne Pinkston Sunday. Mrs. Pinkston was called to Ripley by the death of her brother, Dr. Thomas Pipkins.

Alamo--Mrs. Harry Knox was called to Memphis Monday by the death of her father, Mr. A. L. Newman.

Alamo--Mrs. Lula Nichols and Mrs. Marvin Vernon received a telegram from Childress, Texas that their aunt, Mrs. Tom McClaran had passed away Nov. 30th.

Pfc. Jack N. Skelton--Services for Pfc. Jack N. Skelton, Crockett County soldier who was killed in Italy, May 23, 1944, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive, the Rev. G. G. Pressler of Munford officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery near Bells with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Pfc. Skelton was a member of Co. I, 15th Infantry Regiment, Third Division. He saw action in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Nina Skelton of Gadsden; three brothers, Willie Bob and Ted of Gadsden and Jim Henry of Peoria, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Mary D. Wilson and Mrs. Nina Frances Moncier of Gadsden.

Mrs. Mary Broglin--Services for Mrs. Mary Broglin were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in the Chestnut Bluff community, near Halls. Burial was in South Fork Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Broglin, who was 85, died at the home of her grandson, W. H. Burse, near Maury City. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. She was a member of the Chestnut Bluff First Christian Church. She leaves three sons, R. P. Burse of Ridgely, Willie Burse of Halls, and Ewell Broglin of Friendship; four daughters, Mrs. Chester Little of Halls, Mrs. Emma Chronister of Friendship, Mrs. Sam Coburn of Alamo and Mrs. Walter Armstrong of New York.

Maury City--Mrs. Bobby Buford attended the funeral of Pfc. Richard Futrell in Memphis, Friday.

BIRTH


Bells Items--Born to Mr. and Mrs. James Davison of Milan, December 1st, a daughter. Mrs. Davison is the former Frances Ward.

ANNIVERSARY


Golden wedding anniversary--Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Humphreys will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on next Sunday, December 12, at their home in Bells with open house from 1 to 5 o'clock p.m. They will appreciate congratulations from their many friends on this occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys are descendants of some of the earliest settlers of what is now Crockett County. (This write up was with the picture of the couple.)

Burress-Petago--Miss Geneva Burress, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burress of Gadsden, became the bride of Edmon Petago of Steele, Mo., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Petago of Trumann, Ark., Saturday evening, December 4th. The wedding was quietly solemnized at Osceola, Ark., by J. P Hale. Their only attendants were the bride's brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Burress of Holland, Mo., Miss Lois Burress of Gadsden and Mr. Lois Funderburk of Cooter, Mo. The bride is a graduate of Gadsden High School. The groom attended school in Trumann, Ark. The bride wore a blue crepe dress with black accessories. The couple is making their home in Steele, Mo.

OBITUARIES


Services announced for Mrs. Kate Rooks-Humboldt, Tenn., Dec. 6--Services for Mrs. Kate Senter Rooks, widow of Charles Rooks, Humboldt publisher, who died at her home Monday afternoon, will be held at the residence Tuesday at 2:30. The Rev. Hayward Highfill and Dr. Theron Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with Hunt Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Rooks, who was 72, was born and reared in Humboldt, daughter of the late William Thomason and Annie M. Senter. She was the granddaughter of the late Rev. Moses E. Senter, first mayor of Humboldt. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Her husband, Charles W. Rooks, editor of The Courier-Chronicle for more than 50 years, died last April 28. She leaves a son, Charles S. Rooks, successor to his father in the local newspaper; four daughters, Mrs. M. S. McKnight, Mrs. Lain Fitzgerald, Mrs. Dan S. Tuttle and Mrs. Nathan Couch, all of Humboldt, and two sisters, Mrs. Joe S. Cresap and Mrs. Emma Bradbury, and seven grandchildren, all of Humboldt.

Chester Poole, Brownsville, Tenn., Dec. 8--Services will be held at the residence on Memphis Highway Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. for Chester Arthur Poole, who died at the Haywood County Memorial Hospital here Wednesday morning. He was 45. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. R. K. Bennett, pastor of the Stanton Baptist Church. Burial will be in Maury City Cemetery with Brownsville Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Poole leaves his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Poole; three daughters, Ethel Mae Poole, Mrs. Laverne Dancy and Mrs. J. I. Bourne, all of Haywood County; his mother, Mrs. John Poole of Halls, Tenn.; three brothers, Dave Poole and Joe Poole of Halls; and two sisters, Mrs. Lorian Kerns of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Ruby Poole of Maury City.

Dr. M. E. O'Neal dies--Maury City Physician stricken by heart attack on rounds of duty--Dr. M. E. O'Neal, only practicing physician in Maury City, died about 5 p.m., Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack earlier in the afternoon while on a visit to a patient. He was 67. Services were held at the Maury City Methodist Church at 10:30 Saturday morning. The Rev. C. O. Frye of Friendship and the Rev. L. A. Smithmier of Maury City officiated. Burial was in Maury City Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge. Born in Friendship, Tenn., Dr. O'Neal had practiced in Maury City since 1907. He was a member of the Maury City Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bettie Lou Park O'Neal; three daughters, Marion Terry of Dyersburg and Mrs. Marvin Agee and Miss Ernestine O'Neal, both of Maury City; a brother, Clint O'Neal of Tigrett, Tenn., and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Howell and Mrs. Margie Lipscomb, both of Memphis, and Mrs. Eldon Taylor of Trenton.

Mrs. W. C. Pennington-Services to be held today for Crockett County Native-Ripley, Tenn., Dec. 10--Services for Mrs. Annie Belle Harrell Pennington, who died near Ashport, Tenn., Friday afternoon, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Edith Assembly of God Church. The Rev. M. C. Dailey will officiate. Burial will be in the Edith Cemetery. She was 47. Mrs. Pennington was born in Crockett County and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She leaves her husband, W. C. Pennington, a farmer of Ashport; her mother, Mrs. L. M Harrell of Halls; two sons, William A. and Murphey Pennington of Ripley and a daughter; Mrs. Woodrow Kirkpatrick of Ripley; nine brothers, Ed, J. H., S. H., T.M., Byrd, Ellie and L. L. Harrell of Halls; R. B. Harrell of Memphis and Roy Harrell of Missouri and three sisters, Mrs. B. M. Riddick of Ripley; Mrs. J. L. Newman of Memphis and Mrs. A. B. Mansfield of Missouri.

Maury City--Mrs. Will Riddick attended the funeral of her nephew, Lieut. William N. Sellers, at Edith Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon.

Maury City--Mrs. Willie Castellaw is visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. C. Boyd, and new grandson and Mr. Boyd at Oak Ridge.

Bells Items--Mr. and Mrs. Harris (Bud) Pearson are announcing the arrival of a son on December 10. He has been given the name John Ralph.

ANNIVERSARY


Celebrate 50th Anniversary--Mr. and Mrs. Ben Humphreys of Bells, widely known citizens of this section celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home on West Main, Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6. Mrs. Edgar Farrow, sister of Mrs. Humphreys, greeted the guests at the door. Those in the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys, Ben Humphreys, a grandson, and daughter, Miss Teresa Humphreys and her houseguest, Miss Fullmer of Memphis. Mrs. David Farrow directed the guests to the register, which was kept by Mrs. E. M. Halyard and from there to the dining room. Here Mrs. Elsie Cunningham and Mrs. Hill Turner presided where punch, decorated cakes and mints were served. The guests then were shown the gifts by Mrs. Emma Farrow and they were attractively displayed in the guest room. Among the gifts was a lovely chest of silver, given them by their daughter and grandson. Ninety guests called during the afternoon to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys and extend their very best wishes. There were several other lovely gifts and dozens of cards, telegrams and telephone calls from distant places sent by friends who were unable to attend. Each guest received a tiny golden bell, a memento of this happy occasion. (Descriptive items have been omitted)

Williams-Harber--Mr. and Mrs. Willis Williams of Alamo are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Dotty, to Joe Frank Harber, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Harber of Crockett Mills, Friday, December 3, The wedding was quietly solemnized in the home of Bro. O. S. Lanham, a minister of the Church of Christ in Corinth, Miss. The double ring ceremony was performed. The bride was attractively dressed in a grey suit with black accessories. Her corsage was a purple-throated orchid. The bride is a graduate of Alamo High School. The groom is a graduate of Hamlett-Robertson High School and served 19 months in the Navy. After a wedding trip to Florida they are making their home in Alamo.

OBITUARIES


Mrs. Carl Jones accidentally killed Friday--Mrs. Lillie Pearl Jones, 31, was struck by a car just after alighting from a Greyhound bus at Brimm's Corner Friday evening about 6:45. She was brought to Alamo in an ambulance but died a few minutes after arriving at the doctor's office. Mrs. Jones lived at Maury City and is survived by her husband; two children, Jackie and Nina Elizabeth; her father, Walter Ford; two sisters, Mrs. Donna Lee Badgett and Miss Annie Mae Ford of Maury City; three brothers, Garland Ford of Wilmington, Del.; Anderson Ford, Halls; and Royce Ford of Chestnut Bluff. She was a member of the Lebanon Methodist Church. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Maury City Methodist Church, the Rev. L. A. Smithmier officiating. Burial was in Maury City Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. E. Shellabarger-Services for former Bells Resident-Jackson, Tenn., Dec. 17--Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Shellabarger who died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Margie Tate at 11:50 Thursday night were held at the Smith Funeral Home chapel Saturday morning at 10:00 with Rev. R. E. Guy officiating. Burial was in Belleview Cemetery at Bells, Tenn. She was 74. Born at Union, Ohio, Mrs. Shellabarger moved to Bells in 1896. At the death of her husband in 1920, she moved to Jackson. She was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church and of the Bells Sunday School class. She leaves three sons, Earl Shellabarger of Bells, Willis Shellabarger of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jesse Shellabarger of Jackson; a daughter, Mrs. J. A. Shelton of Henderson; a brother, Will Hissong of Phillipsburg, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Lavine Klepinger of West Milton, Ohio and Mrs. Jennie McCormick of Verda, Ill.

Sam Lewis--Sam Lewis, former well-known businessman of Alamo, died Dec. 18, at his home in Sheffield, Ala. He is survived by his wife, the former Pauline Speight of Cross Roads community, and a son, Samuel Paul Lewis. Mr. Lewis was associated with his cousin, Arthur Yearwood, in the grocery business in Alamo a number of years ago.

Clyde W. Marr--Services for Clyde W. Marr, brother of Roy M. Marr, president of the Leader Federal Savings & Loan Association of Memphis will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning in Nashville with John C. Roesch Funeral Home in charge. Burial Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Tennessee Ridge, Tenn. Mr. Marr died suddenly at his Nashville home. He leaves his wife Mrs. Patsy Marr; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Stubblefield and Miss Clydene Marr, all of Nashville, and another brother, Frank L. Marr of Bells, Tenn. He owned and operated the Marr Radio Shop in Nashville. He was 51. Mr. F. L. Marr, L&N agent at Bells and Mrs. Marr attended the funeral of their brother.

Sherylyn Kail--Funeral services were held Friday, December 17, at the Church of Christ in Alamo for Sherylyn Kail, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Kail. Bro. E. V. Boone officiated. Burial was in Robertson Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Sherylyn, age three months and three days, died suddenly early Thursday morning. She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Kail, and a host of friends who sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Kail in their sorrow; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Renner Kail of Johnson Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Phillips of Alamo.

Alamo--Mr. and Mrs. Buster Kee, Mrs. S. P. Selph and Miss Annell Boyd attended the funeral of Penn Cherry in Humboldt Friday afternoon.

Three drown near Halls-Three duck hunters drown in Halls area--An overloaded boat that capsized when the hunters fired into a flight of ducks, brought death to three hunters Saturday morning in Old River near Halls. Drowned were: Bernard Tomlinson, 26, farmer of Gumflat community; Wayne Riddick, 32, of 823 Crockett, Memphis, sheet metal worker for Ideal Fixture Company, and Ralph Jackson, 24, of 1075 Palmetto, Memphis, a machine operator for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. Levoy London of Halls, about 23, who was on the hunting party swam ashore. A searching party headed by Sheriff Norvell of Ripley, Marshal Harry Hall of Halls and Roy Sudbury, funeral director, recovered the bodies of Mr. Tomlinson and Mr. Jackson. Mr. Riddick and Mr. Tomlinson drowned in their effort to swim ashore. Mr. Jackson and Mr. London reached the shore. Mr. Jackson lost hold and drowned in the swift current. Mr. Tomlinson leaves his mother, Mrs. Hattie Linson of Gumflat community; two brothers, Allen Tomlinson of the U. S. Army in Germany and Gale Summers of Newbern, Tenn., and five sisters, Mrs. Harold Ferguson, Mrs. James Barbee, Mrs. Tommie Nichols and Miss Alene Tomlinson of Halls, and Mrs. Bruce Holland of Memphis. Mr. Riddick was born in Maury City and moved to Memphis eight years ago. He was an army veteran of World War II. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Robbie Riddick and three daughters, Melba Jean, 10, Joan Gail, 7, and Jeanette Riddick, 6. Mr. Jackson was born in Mason, Tenn. and moved to Memphis in 1942. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Jackson and a brother, Williford G. Jackson all of Memphis.

Body of missing man is found by hunters-Enoch R. Richardson died at farm near Friendship--The body of Enoch R. Richardson, who disappeared from his one room house on the Johnny Powell farm, between Friendship and Maury City, March 25, was found by hunters about one mile west of No. 20 Highway and about two miles from his home on the A. T. Yancy farm Thursday. Several hundred men, under the direction of former Sheriff Keltner of Crockett County, searched for several days at the time of his disappearance, but failed to find a clue. The cause of his death is unknown according to Sheriff William Gaba of Crockett County. Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Friendship Funeral Home. The Rev. C. O. Frey officiated. Burial was in Providence Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Richardson was 72. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Pierce of Memphis and two brothers, Eli Richardson of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Hessie Richardson of Friendship.

Alamo--Announcements have been received here of the arrival of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Brantley Smothers of Memphis. She has been given the name Barbara Joyce.

WEDDING


Jordan-Castellaw--Mr. and Mrs. Paul Castellaw of Crockett Mills announce the marriage of their daughter, Polly Castellaw to Sonny Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Jordan of Crockett Mills. The double ring ceremony was performed at Boonville, Miss., on December 14, 1948, in the home of Rev. Chastine Edwards. The bride was dressed in a light blue dress. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Slayton of Friendship, who were united in the same ceremony. The two couples spent their honeymoon in Birmingham, Ala. Both Mr. and Mrs. Jordan graduated from Hamlett-Robertson High School in 1946. Mrs. Jordan is also a graduate of West Tennessee Business College, Jackson, Tenn. Mr. Jordan is now employed with the Soil Conservation at Alamo. They plan to make their home in Alamo.

Ilar F. White--Funeral services were held Sunday at the Church of Christ in Halls for Ilar F. White, who died at his home in Halls Saturday afternoon. William Beaird officiated. Burial was in Halls Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge. He was 63 and was a painter and paperhanger in Halls for a number of years. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Minnie Fisher White, two sons, Donald and Woodrow White of Halls; six daughters, Miss Bonnie Ruth White of Halls, Mrs. Jack Walker of Gates, Mrs. Robert J. Meader of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. L. L. Jones of Chicago, Mrs. Johnnie Lee and Mrs. Dent Dossett of Hattiesburg, Miss.; two brothers, D. B. White of Tigrett and J. E. White of Friendship; one sister, Mrs. Austin Jones of Halls.

Charley W. Barnes--Charley W. Barnes of Bells, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at Kennedy Veterans Hospital, where he became a patient Dec. 16. He was 53. Mr. Barnes was a veteran of World War I. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Williams of Bells. Goosmann Funeral Home in charge.

Maury City--Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Randle, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Harper and Mrs. Steele Booth attended the funeral of Rev. Edward Spears at Liberty Methodist Church near Dresden, Monday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Williams celebrate 64th wedding anniversary--Mrs. J. E. Privett honored her father and mother with a dinner at her beautiful country home near Tigrett, Sunday to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary. Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Olds and son, Lloyd and Mr. W. A. Pylent of Nankipoo, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Currie and children, Charles and Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Williams of Halls, Mr. and Mrs. Moody Williams and sons, Bobby and Danny and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams of Clinton, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Vester Williams, Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Williams, Jr., and sons, Mike and Bill of Friendship, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Williams of Union University, Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Williams.

WEDDING


Walters-Gipson--Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Walters of Alamo announce the marriage of their daughter, Thenderha, to Ralph Gipson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gipson of Clarksville, Ark., Wednesday, December 15. The wedding was quietly solemnized in the home of Bro. Perry Herring, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Hernando, Miss. A schoolmate of the groom, Ernie Wade, was the only attendant. The bride is a graduate of Alamo High School. The groom attended school in Clarksville, Ark. He spent 4 years in the Army. They are making their home in Memphis where the groom is in school.

Hopper-Stephenson--Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hopper, Sr., of Alamo announce the marriage of their daughter, Virginia Lynn to Fred Stephenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stephenson of near Alamo. The double ring ceremony was performed by Howard Plaxico of Corinth, Miss. The only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Blanton Hardin and Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Clark.
