OBITUARY
MRS. ANNE BESSENT HILL
Mrs. Anna Bessent Hill familiarly known to her many friends as "Aunt Ann" and Friendship's oldest resident died Wednesday noon at her home after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Hill would have been 95 in June and was very active, being confined to her room for only a few weeks from injuries received in a fall. She was the widow of the late J. G. Hill and sister of the late State Representative Jim Bessent of Dyer County. She was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at the Friendship Methodist Church Thursday at 3 p.m. with Rev. C. Frey officiating. Burial was in Sudbury Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Rogers; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Deaton Young are the parents of a son born at St. Mary's Sunday, April 1.

Mr. R. T. (Bob) Murchison of Wartrace, Tenn. died suddenly at his home Sunday. Mr. Murchison was born and reared at Maury City and had many friends in this community who regret to hear of his passing.

JONES --- KLYCE
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Jones of Alamo announce the marriage of their daughter, Margaret Ruth to Robert Harlin Klyce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klyce of Alamo.
The marriage was solemnized in Corinth, Miss., on April 9th. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Theo Mitchell of Gadsden.
Mrs. Klyce is employed by the Chickasaw Amusement Company as cashier of the Alamo Theater. Mr. Klyce is with the U. S. Navy and will return to San Diego, for assignment to duty.
EASON - TALLEY
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Eason of Maury City announce the marriage of their sister, Eura O'Dell to John Edward Talley of Billings, Montana on March 31st at the Methodist parsonage in Corinth, Miss., with Rev. Tinsley B. Thorner officiating. Mrs. Talley is the daughter of the late Mr. John H. and Mrs. Jo Ann Eason of Maury City.
Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Austin, Mr. Billy Austin and Miss Marguerite Brandon.
They will make their home in Billings, Montana.

OBITUARIES
MRS. FLORA ROBERTS
Services were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the First Methodist Church for Mrs. Flora Brigance Roberts who died at Methodist Hospital in Memphis Thursday night after a brief illness. The Rev. Robert Y. Horton, pastor, officiated assisted by the Rev. James D. Junkins, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist Church of Memphis. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with Hunt Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Roberts, widow of W. H. Roberts, was 80.
Born and reared in Crockett County, Tenn., Mrs. Roberts lived in Humboldt, until her husband's death several years ago. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Humboldt, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. She had made her home with her children in recent years.
She leaves a son, Frank Roberts of Memphis; a daughter Mrs. Russell E. Mooney of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Mary Patton of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a brother, A. L. Brigance of Bells, Tenn.
MALCOLM RICE GIBBONS
Malcolm Rice Gibbons, age 40, died at the John Gaston Hospital in Memphis Tuesday after an illness of one week. He was a native of Alamo and lived here for the greater part of his life, moving to Memphis several years ago. He was a graduate of Alamo High School and West Tennessee Business College and was employed by Universal Parcel Service at the time of his death.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Gibbons, of Memphis.
Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Alamo, E. V. Boone officiating. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
MRS. JOHN PHILLIPS
Mrs. Nancy Almedie Phillips, wife of John Phillips, died Tuesday at her home two miles east of Alamo following a stroke. She was ill for one week.
Mrs. Phillips was born and reared in Crockett County and was 75 years of age.
Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mae Mayfield and Mrs. Hester Privett; and six sons, Bryant Rice, James, Elbert, Frank, Cecil and Hamlett Phillips, all of Alamo.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2:30 at the Church of Christ in Alamo, Ernest V. Boone officiating. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.

Born to Dr. and Mrs. Nathan Porter on Sunday, April 15, at the Milan Hospital a daughter. The baby is the grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Porter.

Russell Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cooke of Cairo and Miss Betty Ann Leggett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buster Leggett of the Cypress community, were married Saturday at Corinth, Miss.

OBITUARIES
JEFFERSON D. HERNDON
Services were held at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Humboldt for Jefferson D. Herndon, retired carpenter and railroad man, who died at St. Mary's Hospital in Humboldt on Thursday morning. The Rev. Hayward Highfill, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill with Goosmann Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Herndon was 85.
Born and reared in Crockett County, Mr. Herndon moved to Humboldt 50 years ago. He was first employed on maintenance of way for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad and transferred from section foreman to train service, where he served 50 years. After his retirement he worked as a carpenter for various firms in Humboldt. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He leaves four sons, W. Oscar Herndon of Bells, Tenn.; Thomas A Herndon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Major E. Herndon of Richmond, Va., and O S. Herndon of Nashville.
MRS. DARLEY AVERY
Mrs. Darley Compton Avery of Mission, Texas died at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis Wednesday night of last week after suffering a heart attack at the home of her sisters, Miss Rose Compton and Miss Flo Compton, 1773 Jackson Avenue, Memphis. She was 55.
Mrs. Avery, who was visiting relatives in Memphis, had a heart ailment for several years.
She leaves her husband, Paul C. Avery, of Mission, and a brother of H. A. Compton of Jackson. Both Mr. and Mrs. Avery were reared in this county.
Funeral services were held in Memphis with National Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Pond Creek Cemetery Friday.
EVANS ESPEY
Services for Evans Espey were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Halls Methodist Church with the Rev. E. E. Thurmon and the Rev. A. J. Goforth officiating. Burial was in Halls Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Espey died Friday morning at the Lauderdale County Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Espey was born in Crockett County and lived there 48 years before moving to Halls, Tenn. He was a well known resident and contractor of Halls. He was 66 and a member of the Methodist Church.
He leaves three daughters Mrs. Morris Barcroft of Ripley, Mrs. Lee Radum and Miss Demetra Espey of Wittenberg, Wis.; one son, James Orris of Halls; two brothers, T. S. Espey of near Halls and George Espey of Curve, Tenn.; his mother, Mrs. Ella Espey of Halls and three grandchildren.
MARY ELIZABETH McCORD
Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Gadsden Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m. for Miss Mary Elizabeth McCord who died at her home in Gadsden Wednesday evening. Carl Davis of Gadsden officiated. Burial was in Raines Cemetery with Friendship Funeral Home in charge.
She was born September 8, 1880 and had lived near Gadsden all of her life.
She leaves one sister, Mrs. Coy Warren of Trenton; three brothers, Bob, Gene and Henry McCord of Newbern.
CHARLEY SPRY
Funeral services were held on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Sudbury Funeral Home in Friendship for Charley Spry, who died suddenly while working on a building near Tigrett of a heart attack Thursday afternoon. Edgar Williams officiated. Burial was in Sudbury Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge.
He was 65 and had lived in Friendship all of his life with the exception of 6 years he lived in Missouri.
He leaves his wife, Lovey Spry of Friendship; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Jacobs of Halls and one brother, John Spry of Milan.
WAYNE VIAR KEE
Word was received here Monday of the death of Wayne Viar Kee in Korea on April 13th. Kee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Farrow L. Kee of Memphis and nephew of Mr. Roy Kee of Friendship. The Kees are former residents of Dyer County and have many friends in this community.
DAVID CRAIG
Funeral rites for J. David Craig well known and highly esteemed business man and former city commissioner who died at his home in Dyersburg Sunday were held Monday afternoon.
He was 71 and had been in ill health for several years.
He leaves his wife; three brothers, Press Craig, Tom Craig and Allen Craig of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. George Culley of Memphis and Mrs. Stoy Dawson of Dyersburg.
The Craigs are former residents of Friendship and well known in this county.
HOMER JACKSON (BUD) SHEPPARD
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Johnson Grove Baptist Church for Homer Jackson Sheppard who died at his home near Johnson Grove Friday. W. E. Hughes of Ripley officiated assisted by Malcolm Broome of Jackson. Burial was in Robertson Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
He was born in Crockett County August 22, 1881 and had lived in this county all of his life. He was a farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Katie Sheppard; three sons, H. L. Sheppard of Bells, B. N. Sheppard of Osseo, Minn., and Harl Sheppard of Johnson Grove; four daughters, Mrs. Morine Johns, Dora Pearl, Dorothy and Betty Jean Sheppard of Johnson Grove.

In a quiet simple ceremony at the First Christian Church at Corinth, Miss., April 8, 1951, Novalene Skelton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Skelton of Alamo became the bride of Fred Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Franklin Williams of Humboldt. The wedding was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Alton Skelton, mother and father of the bride, Mrs. Robert Franklin Williams, mother of the groom and Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Skelton, aunt and uncle of the bride.
DANIEL --- CHAPMAN
Mr. Willie Daniel of Crockett Mills announces the marriage of his daughter, Lena Ann to Farris Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Chapman of Alamo. The wedding was solemnized on April 14 in Corinth, Miss. Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Terry of Alamo, sister of the groom. The couple will make their home near Alamo.
