Georgie Robertson Christian College was named in honor of George Ann (Georgie) Robertson, daughter of John Franklin and Lucy Alice Hamlett Robertson of Crockett Mills, Tennessee. Georgie died of typhoid fever in Crockett Mills on November 9, 1895, one day after her 21st birthday. John Franklin Robertson made a donation in her memory to West Tennessee Christian College in Henderson, Tennessee, and the college was renamed in her honor in 1897.

John Thomas Brown was born one mile north of Alamo in 1869 (then Cageville, Gibson County.) Brown's leather-bound, 683-page edition is considered the definitive work on the history of the Churches of Christ, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the American Restoration Movement. The photograph and text above were taken from a copy of John T. Brown's book that belonged to my great-grandfather, William Stephen Corbett.
