MINUTES OF BIG SPRING PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH

 

Church Records for the Year 1810

 

January Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Continued the reference relative to Bro. Wm. Weaver and Bro. Joseph Neal to next meeting.
2nd Bro. Zechariah McCubbin and Bro. Peter Neal appointed to cite Sister Seleta Lane to attend next meeting.
3rd Bro. George Stubblefield appointed to cite Sister Elisa Jennings to attend next meeting.

February Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Dismist Hannah Hill and Peggy Cooper by letter.
2nd the church unanimously agreed to give the difficulty relating to Bro. Wm Weaver and Bro. Joseph Neal into the hands of members chosen from Big Barren and War Creek Churches and for them to make a final decision and pray for them to send us three or more members from each church.

March Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Elizabeth Jennings made her excuse for not attending meetings.
2nd Dismist Sister Elly McNabb by letter.
3rd. Excluded Seleta Lane for the sin of fornication.
4th The committee from Big Barren and War Creek churches refusd to take the authority of the church but propose to the church to chuse two members out of her own Body. The church agreed to it & chose Zachariah McCubbin & Joseph Clark to act with them for a decision agreeable to order of the church at February meeting.
The committee report that they discover the two brethren to wit Brother Wm Weaver & Brother Joseph Neal to be hardened against each other & we exclude them both.

April Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. Nothing to record.

May Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.

June Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1. Opened a door for the reception of members. Henry Holt offered his experience and respond the reception of him to next meeting.
Sarah Hopson offered her experience and respond also.

July Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceed to business.
1.Henry Holt and Sarah Hopson received into fellowhip.
2nd Mary Brooks received by letter.

August Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Appointed Brethren Zachariah McCubbin, Joab Hill and Ishum Clark delegates to the Association.
2nd Appoint Brethren Isaac Lane and George Stubblefield to attend the union meeting at Ritchland Creek meeting house Second Saturday in September.
3rd Libby Hodges received by experience.

September Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Opened a door for the reception of members and received Fanny Harper, Naomi Cleark, Polly Weaver and Penney Hopson by experience and Polley Fitzgarrel by letter.
2nd Appointed Bro. Isac Lane and Bro. Ritchard Harper to converse with brother James Cunningham on account of his lying out of the church.

October 1st Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received James Cunningham, William and Bevirah Dunsmore by letter.
2nd Received Patrick Fitzgarrel, Jona Moore, Rawleigh Shipley, Reuben Harper, Thomas Whitehead, Elizabeth Going, Reuben Rose, Henry Cunningham, Jane Cunningham, Higman Athy, Sarah Jennings, Husk's Fann, Mary Edwards, Rhoda Harrison by experience.
3. Dismist Mary Bragg by letter.

November Second Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received Maryann Cunningham by letter and Jane McCubbin by experience.

November 3rd Saturday 1810. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received John Simmons, Elisabeth Markham, Hirum Hurst, William Cunningham, William Kirby by experience.
