Cunningham-Dosser-Broyles-Clayton House
Afton Hall

The Cunningham-Dosser-Broyles-Clayton House
Jonesborough, Tennessee, circa 1880s

From a January 24, 1982 article printed in the Johnson City Press Chronicle about the closing of the Dosser store in Johnson City.   Mary Nell Dosser Keller was interviewed for the article and supplied the photograph of her family in front of the house.  At the time of the article, Mrs. Keller was the only surviving child of Robert Newton Dosser, Sr., who had purchased the home from Dr. Samuel Blair Cunningham.

Mrs. Keller recalled, "The place was called Afton Hall.  There was a creek running through and a rose arbor across the sidewalk, with roses growing on each side of the walk.  A little bridge over the creek gave easy access to the house."

Article with photo was copied and submitted by David Dosser.
