It was in this frame building that  William G. "Parson" Brownlow lived while he was publishing  the "Jonesborough Whig" newspaper in the 1840s.  Brownlow was a Methodist circuit rider, a politician, a bitter enemy of Andrew Johnson, and a one-time Tennessee Senator and Governor.
