Elizabeth McNew LaFas (LaForce) (Mrs. S> D.) being of the age
of 18 and upward hereby apply for membership in the Society by right of Lineal
decent in the following line from John Clayborn or Claiborn who was born in
Bedford County Virginia 1760 and lived in Knox County Tenn. on 5th Sept 1840
(from bible records) The place of residence during the Revolution
was Bedford County, Va. Supposed to have gone (looks like Missouri) on visit in
fair of 1838 but to have returned before his death 1840. (There is recorded
in the 1840 list of pensioners John Cleborn living with Goerge Cleborn in Sumner
Co tenn 1840) might be same man supplied by AW Burns)

2. The said Virginia Luster Claiborne was the child of
Robert Marion Claiborne - oldest child born 8-14-1831 died 12-12-1914 and
his 1st wife Elizabeth Rogers Woodson born 5-21-1836 died 3-29-1900 married
12-7-1854 3. The said Robert Marion Claiborne was the child of Otey
Taylor Claiborne born 12-3-1808 died 3-18-1877 and his first wife Mourning
Luster Burgess born Jan 29, 1815 died 11-1-1840, married (1st ? ) 1830 He
married 2nd Mary Smith -- 12- 26 - 1841, & 3rd America Munday
2-9-1845. 4. The said Otey Taylor Claiborne was the child of John Clayborn
born 1760 died 1 5-1840 and his 1st wife Elizabeth Smith, born 1790
died after 1850 married about 1807 (In this 1850 census she is living with
her son Otey Claiborn in Campbell County Tennessee 5. The siad John
Claiborne was the child of Col Augustine Claiborne born 1721 died 1787 and
his 1st wife Mary Herbert 6. The said Col Augustine Claiborne was the child
of Capt. Thomas Claiborne born 2-16-1680 died 1 16 1732 and wife Anne Fox
b 7. The said Thomas Claiborne was the child of Lieut Col. Thomas
Claiborne born 8-17-1647 died 10-7-1683 and wife Sarah Fenn Dandridge born
1684 died 1732 The said Sec William Claiborne was child of
Edmund Claiborne born 1587 died 1676 and wife Elizabeth Butler
who married a Grace

Deed to land in Campbell Co Tenn Jan 4 1810 date death from family bible of
Revolutionary ancestor John Claiborne. Page 91 Marriage records Campbell
Co Tenn John Clayborne was a resident of Knox Co Tenn in 1832 and The
Soldier John Clayborne was allowed pension, see copy elsewhere in this
volume. Executed 10-3-1832 at which time he was age 72. It was not stated
whether he was married. One Jubel Clayborne was a resident of Knox Co Tenn in
1832 and brother to John Clayborn. John Claiborne had a sister Mary
(Polly) Claiborne who married William Herron. He had a brother Lorenza
Claiborne who married a Lewis and a brother Daniel Claiborn who married Molly
Maury. In 1811 he was an inspector of Tobacco in Campbell Co

To the best of my knowledge and belief, I, Anna
Eliza Claiborne, Born October 26 1857 who died Aug 15, 1927 am a sister to
Virginia Luster Claiborne, born Oct 28 1855 Died May 14, 1934 and daughters of
Robert Marion Claiborne born 1831 died 1914 who married Elizabeth Rogers Woodson
and are grand daughters of Ota Taylor Claiborne who married Mourning Luster
Burgess, whos father was William Burgess, Methodist Minister. The 4 children of
this union, Robert Marion, Elizabeth, Mary Jane and John Hogan, recieved
$400. each at the death of their mother This
information is given for Elizabeth McNew LaFas my niece and I certify this to be
true to the best of my knowledge and belief. State of Tenn, Knox County, affirms
that the foregoing statement is true to the best of the knowledge and belief.

John Hogan Claiborne, born Oct 20 1838 and married Martha Jane Kilbourne,
December 5, 1867 Campbell Co Tennessee. He was the brother of Robert Marion
Claiborne born Aug 14, 1831 and died Dec 12 1914, married 1854 Elizabeth Rogers
Woodson, born May 21 1836 and died March 29 1900 whom I knew well. His
daughter Virginia Luster Claiborne born October 28 1855 died May 14 1934,
married Jan 18 1874, Campbell County Tenn to Milton Maupin McNew, born Aug 28
1852, died Jan 1 1931 at Knoxville, Tenn Robert Marion Claiborne was the son of
Oty Taylor Claiborn, born 12 3 1808 died Mar 18 1877 and married Mourning Luster
Burgess, born Jan 29 1815 and died November 1 1840 daughter of William Burgess A
Methodist Minister of Campbell Co, Tenn. Oty Taylor Claiborn was the son
of John Claiborne, Revolutionary soldier from Bedford Co Virginia born 1760,
died Knox Co Tenn Sept 5 1840, married Elizabeth Smith. Her father Robert Smith
married Sarah Moss.
