This website is devoted to the Civil War regiment 4th (East) Tennessee Cavalry, which was a regiment comprised of East Tennesseans who fought to preserve the Union
Although Tennessee was a Confederate state, there were many natives of the state who voted against secession, and who mightily resisted the Rebellion. Those Southern Unionists mustered many regiments of Tennesseans who fought to keep the nation intact.
I am very proud of my Blalock ancestors who fought on the side of the Union. My great-great grandfather, Thomas F. Blalock, served as a private in Co K of the 4th TN. Several other members of the 4th were my kin, including Churchwell Brown of Co K (my 1st cousin 4x removed) and Ephraim Foster of Co L (my half 1st cousin 3x removed). I also had family in the 2nd TN Infantry, including my great-great uncles Hubbard Blaylock (who died at Andersonville), and his brother Michael Blaylock.
