ggrandfather ANDREW JACKSON PHELPS, JR. married MARY ELIZABETH SPRUILL,
May 12, 1867, Washington County, North Carolina. They lived in and around
Creswell and Lake Phelps North Carolina..

The 1765 Tyrrell County will of SAMUEL SPRUILL lists one
of his heirs as "James the son of Mary DILLING." That
James DILLON was my ancestor. His mother's name was obviously Mary
but I don't know who his father was. I have not been able to find a
Dillon father for James. The fact that he is an heir of Samuel Spruill
makes me wonder if he was the illegitimate child of Sam Spruill and Mary
Dillon. James' mother Mary Dillon could have been either the widow or daughter
of John Dillon who died in 1757 (both women were named Mary). Sam
Spruill and the widow Mary Dillon were roughly the same age so Sam could
not have been Mary's father and therefore Sam Spruill could not be the
grandfather of James Dillon. Any thoughts on this or further information

I am related to Dr. Godfrey Spruill both through the Spruill line
and the Chesson line. I would like to get info. on my great grandfather
William Shepherd Spruill. He was born about 1850 to Charles and
Polly (?) Spruill. He died sometime between 1880 and 1890. He was married
to Emmaline Davenport (second wife). My grandmother Lina Spruill
Chesson was his daughter. She was a child when he died. I would like
to know the year of his death and place of burial. Also any other info.

Need info on the parents of Elizabeth Spruill b. 1824 DeKalb Co
GA. She m. James H. Farr b. 1823 Union Co SC. They moved to Montgomery
Co AR and operated a flour mill at Caddo Township. Children: Mary
J. BROOKS 1846; Margaret "Annie" KELLEY 1848; Thomas Stephen
1850; William A. 1853; Esther M. 1856; Nancy E. 1857; John W. 1862; James
F. 1865. Mary, Margaret, Stephen and John are known to have moved into
TX and died there. Margaret "Annie" m. 1863 in Ft. Smith AR to
Louis KELLEY. There were a few Spruills who turned up in AR, but I'm
having trouble determining Elizabeth's father. Would also like to know
where she is buried. She died late 1800's presumably in AR.

1796. My line is through his daughter, Zilpha Spruill who married
John Dawson Castellaw on 21 Jan. 1804 in Tyrell Co.,NC. She died
in Haywood Co., TN on 27 April 1842.

James A. Spruill, my ggggrandfather, who was born in either Washington
or Currituck County. His wife was Fanny ? His daughter, Anna Eliza
(1824-1868), married my gggrandfather, Mathias Owens (1803-1867). They
had many children, among them my ggrandfather, Capt. William Mathias
Owens, CSA, who was born in Washington Co.
I would appreciate any information on James A. Spruill's parents and
his burial place.

Spruill who married Anna Oliver they were both from misissippi..

I am trying to find my grandmother Cathrine SPRUILL. She was
born a slave on Somerset Plantation in Creswell and was freed, I assume
all at the Somerset plantation were. She had several children. James,
Penny, Becky, Mitte, Marie and maybe more. Her husband was a minister.
She died between 1945 to 1966. I know James was born (my father)
9/18/1984 and died 6/1964.

Ann SPRUILL was born about 1800 and died after 1860. She married Ephraim
ALEXANDER and they resided in Washington Co. NC. In an 1832 deed this couple
deeded land that "fell to Ann Alexander as heir to her brother Nehemiah
Spruill." There are some indications that Ann and Nehemiah had a brother
Hardy N. Spruill.

Looking for any information on JAMES SPRUILL
(b. 1796 in SC) married to a Cherokee Indian. They had 8 children - Milly
Amanda, George Martin , Nancy Alkanza, Gabriel Wilton, James M., Simeon
Jentha, John T., William.
The son JAMES M. SPRUILL was born in 1826. He died in Corsicana,
Texas on July 22, 1914. He married Sarah Jane Harrell. They lived
for a period of time in Sparta, MS (CLAY CO.) They had 9 children - Leaner,
James, Mary E., Martha, Thomas Preston, Joseph E., Milton (Mit), John Robert,
Buford.
The son THOMAS PRESTON SPRUILL was born 9-23-1857 in Sparta MS.
He died in 1936 in Chillicothe, TX. He married MINNIE WHITE on October
26, 1881.
I would love to hear from anyone with information regarding this family.

MANN in 1834, and later at least two other women. He was born in SC
most likely, later moving to Georgia and settling in Carroll County. Late
in life he moved to Clebourne County, Alabama. I am trying to connect him

PHELPS they had two sons David and Zephaniah. David married
???? and had a son Wiggins. Zephania married Helda ??? and
had a daughter Lucretia. Wiggins and Lucretia married and had a son David
A. David A married Arcenith Overton and had a son Samuel Dewey.
Samuel Dewey married Malinda Furlough and had four children: Samuel
Ray, Barbara, Gary, and Garland (all currently living) (each of these

I have are William C. SPRUILL b.12/1849 married to Francis Jane
WALKER SPRUILL and on the other side Charlie M. SPRUILL b.8/14/1865
d.1/12/1933 married to Mary Ellen SPRUILL b.4/10/1866 d. 6/6/1902.
Chowan County and Washington county N.C. Any more info would be greatly
