The following is an exact transcription of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) of Virginia Historical Inventory

1. SUBJECT: The Campbell Family Bible

2. LOCATION: At "Ingleside" north of Rixeyville, Virginia, 1.5 miles on Route #29, thence west on Route #639, 3 miles, thence east on Route #626 .7 mile, thence north on Route #6[3]9 3.1 miles, thence west on private road .1 mile to house

3. DATE: 1847

4. OWNERS: Miss Bessie Campbell, Amissville, Virginia

5. DESCRIPTION: This bible is eleven and one fourth inches by eight and one fourth, and four inches thick. It is well illustrated with many engravings representing historical scenes made from celebrated paintings. It is in good condition.

6. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The bible was printed in 1847, and published by Robert Sears, and J. S. Redfield, 128 Nassua Street, Clinton Hall in New York City, New York.

Elizabeth M. STROTHER, the wife of John STROTHER was born May 7th 1814

James M. STROTHER was born July 11, 1845

W. G. STROTHER was born July 28th 1849

Adelia P. CAMPBELL, the oldest daughter of Walker CAMPBELL and E. Jane CAMPBELL, his wife, was born the 22nd of January 1837

Mary Olivia CAMPBELL was born the 28th of April 1839

George Washington CAMPBELL was born the 6th day of March 1843

Winfield Scott CAMPBELL was born the 29th day of October 1847

Bessie Jane CAMPBELL was born the 2nd of March 1870, a daughter of W. S. CAMPBELL and Jennie F. CAMPBELL, his wife

Winfield Strother CAMPBELL was born 22nd of November 1872, son of W. S. CAMPBELL and Jennie, his wife


Lucy Brooke McCORMICK was born the 2nd of July 1904, married Charles EISEMANN, of Belfort, Mississippi, in 1922, and died the 24th of May 1930

Adelia P. CAMPBELL, wife of Robert BYWATERS departed this life 1932

May Olivia CAMPBELL, wife of Thomas BYWATERS, passed away January 1933

Eliza Jane, wife of Walker CAMPBELL, departed this life September 8th 1876, about fifteen minutes before 8 P. M. age 60 years, 1 month, 10 days

Mary CLORE, wife of George CAMPBELL, was born 1781, died 1870

James M. STROTHER, departed this life May 27, 1909

W. Scott CAMPBELL departed this life October 23rd 1914 about half past 2 o'clock A. M. age 66 years, 11 months and 24 days

William G. STROTHER, son of John STROTHER and Elizabeth B. his wife, departed this life April 22nd, at eight o'clock 1822

Jennie F. CAMPBELL departed this life September 19th 1929 at five o'clock in the morning. Aged 89 years, 5 months, 22 days

Winfield Strother CAMPBELL passed away the 5th of February 1933 at 8 o'clock. Aged 60 years, 2 months and 13 days

George Washington CAMPBELL departed this life the 25th day of June 1844

Elizabeth M., wife of John STROTHER, departed this life December 1st 1888, about half past six A. M.

Walker CAMPBELL, the husband of Jane and son of George and Mary CAMPBELL, departed this life November 23, at 5 minutes to 2 o'clock A. M. 1891
