The following is an exact transcription of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) of Virginia Historical Inventory Report for Culpeper County

1. SUBJECT:  The Ashby Family Bible

2. LOCATION:  Southeast of Culpeper Court House 5.5 miles, or .2 mile south of Stevensburg, Virginia on Route #663, west side

3. DATE:  1834

4. OWNER:  Mr. John A. Covington, Stevensburg, Virginia

5.  DESCRIPTION:  In size this bible is eleven by nine inches and three and one half inches thick, it contains the Apocrypha and is illustrated with whole page pictures at intervals; is in fair condition, some pages loose. It is stereotyped.

6. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:  The inscriptions are as follows:
