ST. AUSTELL BAPTISMS,
from Church of England Registers
for the St. Austell Genealogy & History website

These are our transcrptions of Holy Trinity parish registers from LDS films. with full permission. Not all of the entries here appear in the LDS FamilySearch records, while they may have some not shown here, depending on which register was filmed and transcribed. We include all notes shown on the original, if readable. and all information including Abode, Father's Occupation, and Officiant (if it was noted).

LDS had put original images of these parish registers online, for free. Our Transcripts for 1767 to 1812 show the Image Number, assigned by LDS, for easier searches.

Family Search transcribers altered the years before 1752 to show the years extending from Jan 1 to Dec 31, when the vicar and church [and everyone at the time] used the Julian dates of 25 Mar to 24 Mar, inclusive. We have recorded the baptisms as given in the register. This has created apparent discrepancies between our data & LDS for which one should adjust.

A complete transcription of the HOLY TRINITY Parish Registers for the following years has been completed -

All births after July 1, 1839 were to be reported to the Registrar within 6 wks; there was no penalty for not complying. Some people altered birth dates to comply, however.

As of 1875, a penalty was imposed on people who did not report births.
