NOTICE TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES
SUBJECT: INSPECTION OF BIRTH, DEATH, AND MARRIAGE
REFERENCES: (1.) Health and Safety Code 103650
The following outlines the Registrar-Recorder's Policy regarding the inspection of birth, death and marriage records in accordance with the references listed above.
RECORDS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC INSPEECTION
INDEXES
Birth (local) - Prior to 1905, 1964 - Present
Birth Microfiche (State wide) - Years 1956 - 1984
Death (local) 1877 - Present - Date of birth and/or age information omitted
Death Microfiche (State wide) - Years 1940 - 1949
Marriage (local) Licenses Marriages Only - Years 1852 - Present
Marriage Microfiche (State wide) - Years 1960 - 1969
Marriage Book Format (State wide) - Years 1949 - 1959 (reference 4)
SOURCE DOCUMENTS
Birth Certificates - Requestor must identify record being requested
Death Certificates - Requestor must identify record being requested (reference 2)
Marriage Certificates - Except confidential records (reference 5)

License and Certificate of Confidential Marriage

SEARCH FEES
No fee is required to search available indexes.
The same fee as would be charged for a certified copy of a record will be charged if a deputy must perform the record search.
Birth Certificate $16 per copy
Death Certificate $11 per copy
Marriage Certificate $13 per copy (reference 1)
If the applicant conducted the search and proves the certificate number(s), the deputy can pull up to five (5) records or folders at no charge. The same fee as would be charged for a certified copy of the record type will be charged to pull more than five (5) records or folders.
No fee is imposed to inspect the applicants birth certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificate of applicant's children or death certificate of applicant's immediate family members (grandparents, parents, sisters and brothers).
Applicant must present and indicate the relationship of the person on the certificate to the applicant on the Examination of Records form.
