Montgomery County, Ohio Families

Land formerly owned along Wolf Creek by Peter SWANK and between Diamond Mill, Snake and Reybold Roads owned by Henry ZUMBRUN, and George ROYER are now a part of the Sycamore State Park seen on their map.

On page 203-205 of the Holsinger history is the history of the Wolf Creek Church of the Brethren where most of my ancestor families likely attended.

My third and fourth great-grandparents Hannah HECKMAN 1777-1852 Botetourt County, Virginia to Montgomery County, Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana and Christian KINSIE 1788-1859 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Botetourt County, Virginia to Montgomery County, Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana. Their daughters Saba married Joseph ZEIGLER and Juda married Henry ZUMBRUN. Christian was a Church of the Brethren Deacon and along with my ZEIGLER, ZUMBRUN, and other families from Montgomery County, Ohio formed the Blue River German Baptist now Church of the Brethren Church in Whitley County, Indiana. Christian's brother David and sister Mary KINSEY FRANTZ both died and are buried in Montgomery County.

My second great-grandparents Samuel ROYER 1819-1877 Montgomery County, Ohio to Servia, Wabash County, Indiana and Mary HINSEY 1823-1895 Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Wabash County, Indiana.

Mary's parents John Adam HINSEY 1783-1866 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Wabash County, Indiana and Mariah BURKHOLDER 1792-1869 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Wabash County, Indiana.

Samuel's parents George ROYER 1786-1876 almost 90 or 100 years old Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Huntington County to Whitley County, Indiana and Sarah SWANK 1797 to 1855-1856 Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Huntington County, Indiana. No death date or tombstone has been found for Sarah. She last appears in a Huntington County, Indiana deed. George may have been born in 1776 and was just weeks short of 100 years old. His tombstone is a 20th century replacement and his obituaries give different ages and birth dates. Their land in Montgomery County, Ohio is now part of Sycamore State Park.

Sarah's parents Peter SWANK 1763-1837 Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio and Hannah 1771-after 1850 Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio. There are lots of SCHWENK's and SWANK's in Pennsylvania but have been unable to find a connection with Peter. Their land east of Wolf Creek Road is now part of Sycamore State Park.

My fifth great-grandparent's were Lucy before 1755-1823 Franklin County, Virginia to Greene County, Ohio to Montgomery County, Ohio and James WEBB before 1755-1808 Franklin County, Virginia to Greene County, Ohio.

My second great-grandparents Joseph ZEIGLER 1813-1894 Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana and Saba KINSEY 1815-1888 Montgomery County, Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana. Joseph was a Church of the Brethren Deacon and minister who along with my KINSEY, ZUMBRUN, and other families from Montgomery County, Ohio formed the Blue River German Baptist now Church of the Brethren Church in Whitley County, Indiana.

Genealogy research is never complete, important details might be missing, and often contains errors, so let me know if your research contradicts mine. My Indiana and Ohio family research comes from conversations with relatives, scrapbooks, library research, online records, visits to courthouses, final resting places on family farms and cemeteries. Families in other states rely mostly on the research of others. Links to other web sites often change then won't work, so if you find broken links, have additional information on any families, corrections, photos, or anything to add to the history of our families, please leave a Comment in my Guest book, join my Follis Families on Facebook page for updates and new discoveries, or send an Email.
