The following are notes made mostly from estate and debt cases in the Harlan Circuit Court records. The Box number will aid you in retrieving the case file from the Archives should you wish to do so. We would love to hear more about any of these.

David Green vs (Heirs of Joseph Percifield)
Esau Percifield, Jacob Percifield, Isaac Percifield, Mount Percifield, Jobe Percifield, Zackariah Sawyers and wife Lavica, Nancy Percifield who md ????

William Turner vs (Heirs of John Vaughn)
A debt suit against the estate and heirs: James Vaughn, William Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Samuel Vaughn, Polly Vaughn, Aggy Bush and husband Enoch Bush, Nancy Bush and husband James Bush, Patsy Clestate(?) and husband William Clesbitt
(date not noted, most cases in this box are post civil war years)

Box 14, Bundle 46
(Heirs of Alex Harris)
Petition dated 11 Oct 1870; that Alexander Harris joined the Confederate States Army and was killed, leaving wife Ruth and children: Thomas, Susannah (md ___ Noe), Nathan, Silas or Syrus (residence unknown), and "infants" Robert, Henry Bascom, Napolean and Asbury; all of whome are residing in Tennessee and Virginia.

Joseph Saylor
vs his sons:
Thomas N Saylor, James Saylor, Robert Saylor and Leonard Saylor
Joseph states that his sons were supposed to care for him in his old age but don't; they deny it
