OBITUARY

(News June 17, 1897)

            John Vail, aged 73 years, died at his house in Fairview Township last, Thursday, June 10th, of cancerous affection of the stomach.  He had been confined to his bed almost continuously during the last two months.  His family residing in this county comprises a wife and five grown sons; he also has three daughters living in Montana and one in Wisconsin.  Deceased had been a resident of Potter County since 1884, coming here from Montana, not long before from Minnesota.  He was buried at 2 p. m. last Saturday in the local cemetery.
