Being a senior citizen ain't so bad
Yes, it's true...I am a senior citizen and being a senior citizen is good,
and bad. Being 55 is OK, but there are some
drawbacks. Twice last week I received the benefit of being 55 by getting a
couple of discounts. I was, however, surprised when I realized I now qualified
for something I wasn't aware of.
On the downside of being SO OLD, before my birthday, I was a
walking-over-rocks-and-snow-barefoot sort of person; never wore a coat summer or
winter; always sat in a cold house, etc. I think I have entered the era where I
can no longer hold my arms out far enough to see; everyone seems to have started
mumbling; when I put my eye makeup on I do what I think I should do, then backup
to see where my eyebrows are ... step back!!! Why are they under my
eyes?!?
And I don't care what anybody says; they do make sharper rocks now ...
even the little round ones ... (oh ya, that's called sand). I put a sweater on
the other night (in September! Definitely against all I believe in) and I turned
on the furnace before Nov. 1. I'm getting concerned ... what if I have to wear
that coat I bought back in '78 when we moved back here and I heard Dave
Diedrick talking about keeping winter survival kits in your trunk, in case? My
God, what if I end up buying a pair of insulated boots! I don't think so.
But, I will adjust accordingly as long as the discounts keep coming!
