Speak clearly in case they can't hear clearly

We recently completed the basement for Jon and Joette Nesladek and as I was working on payroll I had to laugh as one unsuspecting soul listed the job site as the residence of Ned Sladek. I shared this with Jon's brother, Mark Nesladek, Friday afternoon in the office and of course, it got us all remember-
ing instances such as that. Mark told of the time they had called in an order for fast food and when they went to pick it up, there was no order for Joe Nesladek. However, when they figured it out, they did have an order for Jonas Audik.
We had friends in Ely, Nev. who had a son named Joseph Lawrence. One day as they were sitting
around talking about names, he questioned his parents' reasoning for giving him a girl's name. They
were so surprised that he thought he had a girl's name. When they asked him where he had gotten
that idea he said because Florence is a girl's name ... He thought his name was Joseph Florence!
Ed, while working as a derrick hand on a drilling rig, was applying for insurance one day and the
agent asked what he did on the rig. He told him he was a derrick hand the agent asked him to repeat it a
couple of times, then wrote it down. Then we got the insurance policy. Ed was listed as a dairy can!
Or there was the time I was trying to give my name over the phone. I seem to have a hard time getting anyone to understand the word "Speck" over the phone. One day, when we lived in Utah, I was attempting to order something over the phone and we went through this "Beck?", "no, Speck," "Oh, Peck," "no, SPECK", "oh STECK?" thing. Finally, in disgust, I said, "Speck as in Fly." "Oh," he says ...
"Fleck." So, we settled on Fleck. And the list goes on ... You  probably have your own story to tell.
