Seatbelts. For grandbabies or Granddad?
Infant seat belts; a necessity I agree. I have, however, noticed that some
babies sit in them, no questions asked. Some refuse, from the time they can sit
up and be strapped in, until they learn to raise so much cane they get to get
out. It always amazes me how something as small as a six to nine-month old child
develops a mind of their own, and an attitude. How do they know about anything at
that age?! And isn't it cute the first few times they express their minds
through physical demonstrations (when you're in the house) and not funny at all
if you're in a store and someone sees it.
I really don't know where I was going with this, but way back there when I was a
birthin' babies, the child protection restraint was a gift to the mother from
God. It stays with her for the rest of her life. It worked like
this ... Every time there was a sudden move of the vehicle, the right arm would
automatically swing out to hold the child safe from falling (they always stood
right next to their mother with their hands in her hair, eyes, mouth ...
anything to keep her attention.)
They grow up and have babies of their own, but by this time, seat belts are in
force. Doesn't matter ... when you hit the brakes the arm still swings to the
right, if for no other reason but to keep Granddad from hitting the floor!
