School memories

Well, the school year ends once again. How I hated school! I don’t remember any one period of school I did like. I loved English, math and spelling and I did, however, have favorite teachers such as Anna Mae (Yates) Nissen, Mrs. Neta Schelske, Miss Bravek, Mary (Bowar)    Schelle and Mrs. Pearl Munger.

There was this boy in my fifth grade class who was always combing his hair; first with a part and his hair plastered down flat across his head. Then the comb went straight back a little way from the forehead and then was combed crossways to create a perfect wave. This was probably done an average of 20 times a day. I mention this only in case he is reading this and he will know I’m talking about him.

When we first returned to Lyman County I would get a mental image of him combing his hair every time I saw him. I would venture to guess he still goes through those steps to this day. Come to think of it, how fortunate he is that he still has hair to comb!
