But Her Prom Dress Was Red!!!

I understand there is some discussion out there concerning the front page photo of the prom-goers who were showing a little leg and their garters. I, too, did a little double-take when I saw it, but then I'm getting close to 60... GOOD LORD! SIXTY!!!! ... Anyway, I come from the old school and am a tad set in my ways, and a little (did she say little?) on the snooty side so I do occasionally find myself telling me to snap out of it. The times they are a-changin'.
People run around all summer in their little string tops and bottoms and we are probably adjusting to some degree, but c'mon, when you're dressed formally and look so beautiful and Mom and Dad are so proud of you ... keep your dress down.
I remember when Donn went to his first prom. She was such a pretty girl and we were good friends of the family and our children were growing up and it was such a special evening for all of us. Then the kids came to the house for the picture-taking session. She was wearing (I can say it today in good  humor)  a strapless RED DRESS!!!! I was devastated! A red dress ...no ...nice girls didn't wear red dresses! We lived through it, but it was touch and go for awhile.
So this is what it has come to ... first the strapless red dresses and now we have them showing off some leg. What next!? No letters please. I'm probably just jealous because I never had a red dress. I did have a beautiful red silk slip one time, but my conscience wouldn't let me wear it. Good grief!
"Olden days".  Go figure. What will the "olden days" be like in 2050? I cannot even imagine.
