Frances hated to play games with me

My sister Frances always tells how she hated to play "Annie Over" with me because she never knew if I was going to throw the ball or a snake. Which is interesting in itself because it takes me back to a day when we were playing at Babe and Irene Cullen’s farm west of Reliance. Their son Dennis chased us girls all over the place waving a darned snake at us and we were doing all of the necessary "girl things" like screaming, running for our lives, etc. I ran into him 30 years later and I reminded him of that day. He just laughed and said, "What you girls didn’t know was that I was as scared as you all were!" Ha. He was just doing the "boy thing" that dictates that boys scare girls.

My sisters, Frances and Sandy, as well as myself have birthdays within a five-day week in July. We shared a birthday, I remember it well. How I hated not being important enough to have my own birthday. It was "ours". One day, 40 years later, I am talking to my sister Pegge and shared with her about poor me and my birthday problem … "All I ever wanted was to just have MY OWN". She one-upped me real fast by asking how I would liked to have been her and didn’t have anyone to share a birthday with, but have to have hers all alone in January. It’s just all in the way we perceive things, isn’t it?
