Ed's trials and tribulations

Oh the trials and tribulations of life. Poor Ed Speck, how does he get through the day what with all of his business doings and me, too.
Picture this ... A black Lincoln Continental we had been trying out for a few days was sitting in front of the house. He said we needed to take it back to the dealer and I said I had to stop to see Jane and I would be right out. He went off to do something then said "I'm going to mumble, mumble, mumble" as he went out the door. The problem started as soon as I got distracted by his mumbling.
I went to the table to wait for him to do what he had to do, then go with him to take the car back. He didn't come back and didn't come back and I got to wondering where the heck he went. Finally, in total frustration, I went to see what he was doing and before I had a chance to check, Charlie Kentch pulled into the driveway, looking for Ed. I told him Ed was out there at the pickup. No, he's not. Yes, isn't he out there by that black Lincoln? No, there's no Lincoln out here.
By now, I'm really frustrated. Where did he go for goodness sake, and what is he doing?!? Charlie had something to do so I went back into the house to wait for Ed. I got busy with my paperwork and about 20 minutes into the project a light came on in my head  ... Oh my God, he took the car back to the dealer! I ran out the door to go get him and there he stood. Some kind soul gave him a ride back home!
Whenever Ed goes somewhere his big green monster truck goes, so in my little mind, I supposed he would drive his truck and I would drive the car. In  his scenario I was supposed to drive MY car and bring him back! The mind does do funny things, doesn't it? I know it made me laugh. More than it made Ed laugh, but that's probably a man-thing.
Kentch commented that now he knows why his wife and I get along so well, we apparently think just alike. Said that's the kind of thing she would do. She'll be glad to know he does think of her even when she isn't around.
