The Emery Community Cemetery is located three miles south and one mile
west of
Emery. The location is the northeast corner of the northeast
quarter of Section 15, in Taylor
Township, Hanson County.
The first burial recorded was Flora, three year old daughter of W.C.
and Harriet
Wright. Mary Salmon, age 24, was buried there in 1881.
The German Baptist Church congregation, organized in 1886 and built
a church on the east side of
that property in 1891. That same year the "German Baptist Cemetery"
was organized by Frerk
Edzards. Church services were held there until 1908, when this
group joined the Emery Baptist
Church, who built a new church that year.
The "German Baptist Cemetery" continued until 1947 when the "Emery
Community Cemetery Association"
was organized. Since then it has been a community cemetery.
